i`m slowly gathering parts for a 1216 build for my Bandit, now the thought of 36mm cv`s instead of the stock bandit`s has me thinking. I`ve been trying to read as much as I can on these carb`s-pros and cons, and I keep reading the needles and emulsion tubes wear at a cronic rate, one read was wearing out after 8000k`s... fuck that! Have read you can get nickel plated needle and emulsion tubes to try and give a bit more life. All because of the way the needle slides, and that is it stays to one side and not central to stop rattling..thats what i`ve read..

Can anyone confirm this?

Has a solution?

Or just stick with the Bandit carbs?

I am flowing the heads with gsxr 1100 cams 1989-1990

Thanks,John

Your Bandit has 36 CV's standard anyhoo. Suzuki's of this era did have a problem wearing out needles and emolsion tubes but not in 8000k.
If your running pods youll need to replace the needels any way so I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it.

I didnt think there'd be much between B12 and R carbs, both 36's.

Going to a coil spring clutch instead of diaphram would be higher on my list.
Even with one heavy spring+one standard mine let go with a hit of NOS.

Are the GSXR cam's more aggressive / drop in ?

fair enough,I thought they were a different carb..so be it.

The cams are different, bandit is low lo mid range and the gix is mid to high, but with the increase in cubes and compression, you don`t loose much if any bottom, just drop straight in and dial them.

cam info was from Alan Herriman,(Suzi expert)
