Hi All,

Here i am @ home talking to my mate about the Streetfighter from the days 80's for example.., i am interested & would like to hear everyones view/insight @ what you would & wouldnt call a streetfighter?? as you know back in the day you would buy the full fairing motorcycle & Strip it down to be a naked; now big brands like the Suzuki GSR & Ducati Diavel just to name a couple are bringing out these naked "Streetfighter" motorcycles.. Hope you understand where i am coming from & apologise if this Subject has been brought up recently

Gotta love this topic always starts fights ;)
1st naked and fighter are 2 different things.
2nd You can't have a factory fighter!! but you can get a fighter styled factory bike ( and some are nice )
You will get some people that will have to have a number of tick boxes before it can be called a fighter e;g
Crashed, dirty bars or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streetfighter
A streetfighter is a sportsbike that is customized by removing the fairing and making other changes that result in an overall more aggressive look. Beyond simply removing fairings, specific changes that exemplify the streetfighter look are a pair of large, round headlights, tall, upright handlebars such as those on a motorcross bike and short, loud, lightweight mufflers.
Blar blar

I think the term streetfighter has like most things evolved and everyone will have an idea of what they think is correct. They can be shop built but most of my fav's are shed built
Something between a sport bike and a supermoto?
Anyway what the fuck do I know A Street Fighter is what ever the fuck you want it to be
More about attitude than style

Yeh u certainly cant buy a 'fighter off the showroom floor, as much as Ducati would beg to differ.
I dislike the term factory fighter. Its an oxymoron in my opinion. If its factory then it sure as hell aint a streetfighter! Its just like big business to try n cash in on a movement thats growing daily...
As has been said tho, I dont think a streetfighter has to be a stripped dwn sportsbike with dirtbike handlebars anymore. Its evolving constantly & the more people that get involved the more ideas get floated around. Its definitely about the attitude, stance & style. Not the amount of off the shelf german fibreglass or bolt on bits from ur dealer.
Built not Bought is the way forward!

I can't say what a Streetfighter is,
but it isnt a factory stock bike !

Race-rep's make good fighters but they
weren't the start and they're just a small
part of it. They're just an evolution of the
whole Triton/Norvin/Z900 Mr Turbo/Harris
"lets f*ck about with it" concept.

My opinion is that it would have been much better without Kylie Minogue in it, apart from that there were some solid fight scenes and awesome as usual acting from Jean Claude Vandam.

in my eyes the only criterea is that you work on it yourself and it is in somewhat "sporty" either muscle bikeish or hoon bikish. obvioulsy this crosses over into other categories (like some choppers and tards and stuff) but it isn't clear cut so that would happen.

If you have to ask what a Streetfighter is then maybe you shouldn't be on this forum.;):D

I'm not racist. I see everyone as green. It's just the dark green ones I don't like.

Well said by this hairy man!

hey lets have an argument :P

your comment obviously meant that you agreed with kevs sig thingo and that says "If you have to ask what a Streetfighter is then maybe you shouldn't be on this forum." whichGSR750_FIGHTER (http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/member.php?4102-GSR750_FIGHTER) pretty much asked... so i was justifying his presence.

Please come back with something else argumentative. this sight doesn't have enough petty arguments already.

This is bullshit, do you think all of the people with streetfighters have done the work themselves? Do you think everyone is that handy mechanicaly? If someone on this site builds an awesome fighter and sells it to someone else is it no longer a fighter? Do bikes become non-fighters the minute Ben starts working on them?

Does anyone really give a fuk ?
I've been here 7 yrs and never called my bike a 'fighter....

A 'fighter is a modified bike with attitude.....
Tough, aggressive stance with the performance to back it whether shed or pro built.
But in my opinion over the top flash paint, bling bling and lots of over priced bolt on bits does not make a 'fighter....more a 'street-dandy'

I don't reckon your bike is a "fighter" though.
The Lambretta that Tony posted up was a modified bike with attitude, but it was not a "fighter".

I love subjective arguments because everybody wins!

Kev the king of stand ups went past you on the ring road?

Or GSR750 did? no argument is needed and one between you and I wouldn't roll like that mate.
Your post made little sense as I am not worried about much, if it was GSR750 you where relating to re the stand up, you should remember you may well be the only one who has met this fella capieche.

Welcome, and no arguments where meant or were invited to happen.

Fella's to ride with and information you will find here, some tossers and new best mate's also will be found.
The issue of the "What is a Streetfighter" is a delicate one I follow the old line but others think a blinged stretched Busa with clip ons is a Fighter, we all know how stupid that idea is.

Get a GSXR front and back end on that GSR of yours and a weapon you will have.
Good luck and enjoy ASF

Is the line 'built not bought' redundent yet...?

I don't think my bike will be classed as a street fighter, but it's a naked and IMO looks good in standard form. But because I have only just got it I'm not planning on any mods for a while.:o But having a couple classic cars, I agree with the moto built and not bought. So in saying that I think it apllies to bikes straight from factory, not If you bought it of somebody already done. But if I was going to say anything about a street fighters, I guess it's gotta look mean and nasty.
