vin numbers nsw

i have a q the XS has a weird vin number and id like any advice before i go blabbing to the rta about it ,, numbers starts with a Y and has about 7 digits followed by a p

Sure it's not an 'N' followed by numbers and then a 'P'?

Used to be common. Bike frames could be re-numbered by NSW Police. The N and P stand for Nsw and Police.

The number should have the year it was stamped as well as a police number,for instance N862476P.
86 meaning year etc

well it probably was back in the day ,but some one had the correct paper work ,and got a pooliice number now,So its all kosher
