its just sitting there waiting to get some things sorted (wiring, proper paint etc)
will need to play with it soon since kat is out of rego and of march and needs a good strip-down (so it will probably be off the road for a decade or 2...)

Fimp the RTA in there wisdom ,got rid of the n.s.w engineering system,Dont panic the RTA will have courses running for mechanics and a like to do ,one of my mates up here has applied for drive-line,wheels tyres, suspension, ticket ,he is sitting a course in febuary ,he tells me instead of the engineer getting $770 to $1300 per visit ,the RTA will be charging around $440 ,if your local bloke has told you there is no more engineering ,tell him to read the paper work properly as sent to him by the RTA,we have a mechanic up here who was spouting off telling all engineering and modification, were now illegal, until he was set straight ,nothing to worry about, look at me im putting a v8 into a l300 ,lol

Here is some reading on the changes

For all those wondering what to do if you've already got an engineers cert, here is a little extract

My vehicle already has an engineering certificate. What do I need to do?

If you have already presented your engineering certificate to a motor registry then you don’t need to do anything else. Your certificate will continue to be recognised by RMS.
If your have not yet presented your certificate at an RMS motor registry you must do by 19 June 2012.
From 20 June 2012, if you have not presented your certificate to a motor registry you will need to get a VSCCS compliance certificate.

oh well, good thing taree is in my "local area"

so if i pull the kat off the road im going to have to get it redone
thats not exactly what the rules say, but im thinking since everytime i bring it out of retirement they dont have a record of the cert and i have to show it (3 times now)

That list was published in just after the rules came out, so hopefully there are a lot more people going to get involved.

They should keep the cert on record even if you don't re-rego it straight away, but it is the RTA and they are mildly retarded....

Good Afternoon,
I currently ride and have registered in NSW a motorcycle with a current engineers certificate.
This vehicle will most probably not be re-registered at the end of its 12 month period (end of May) as I would like to bring it off the road for the rest of the year for an overhaul.
The engineers certificate has been presented and should be on file at the rta. The overhaul will only be for paint and gaskets so shouldnt effect the current engineers certificate.
So if i was to do this overhaul and then try to to reregister it in say November of this year would that be ok under the new system, using the old engineers certificate which you have a record of?
thanks in advance

What are the applicable vehicle standards? The applicable vehicle standards in NSW are set out in Schedule 2 of the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation (http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/viewtop/inforce/subordleg+522+2007+cd+0+N/?dq=Regulations%20under%20Road%20Transport%20(Vehi cle%20Registration)%20Act%201997%20No%20119)
