Rep Points No More?

I'm guessing we've shut down the rep function cos of recent events?

Can we try it from scratch with maybe set it to lower settings not in the 1000's so that you really really have to earn it.

I for one am all for it, because it does tell current members and newbies who has genuinely earned a higher reputation for being a great source of info or just a great member in general.

I know its not a dick measuring contest but its a great function on this new format forum and it would be a shame to shit can it all together cos of a few abusers.

Couldn't give a rat's eather way mate not interested in a "happy meter". If new people hang about here long enough they will sort the wheat from the horse shit. If there not interested in staying long enough to tell the difference then its "there problem" not ours. If someone posts real dumb shit I'm sure the people in the know will rain a hail of shit .

In saying that, not all of them have it and they seem to survive without so I'm sure even though it's there we could all live without it too. you know, like we did before Si brought us a bright new shiny forum with more features than a live doll...

I was in a "creative" mood and having a play around giving negative and positive rep to a few members. I wanted to see how much change it made to other people's rep. I'm sure once a while back, I even turned Pete's rep from red to green by repping him, but I couldn't replicate it and I couldn't get Streetracer or Mrs Filliburt's help either.

I also asked Si to get rid of the function as it had been abused and was meaningless.

Of course it was abused. It was a new feature!
The answer is not to get rid of it, but to harden up and be prepared to pay for what you say.
The rubbish with certain members was going on well before rep points and I am sure will go on long after. The only thing removing the rep points will stop is interest.
When the system is working correctly it actually keeps the shit out of threads because if you don't like what is said then there is an avenue to say so, privately.
And everybody knows that only whiny bitches complain about rep they receive in a thread...

It wasnt actually Large it was me. Large just assumed it was him but with a few drinks etc he wasnt sure, so he stood up as he thought it might have been.

I had negged you when the thread was public with the comment 'this thread is as lame as you' after you negged me when i had posted the 'spelling' correction you took to heart. The thread was lame, the poll attached was moronic and you started it so i gave you the rep you deserved. (addmitedly a little childish tit for tat)

As for the rep thing being a bit of fun, it was in parts but in the most part it was yet another way of singling out just one member and whilst you thought it was fun i know for a fact it cut very deep in the end. It was because of this the whole thing had become a joke without humour and was removed.
