Well after all the time moding my current ride (zxr750) into a early 90's race replica, the fighter bug has bitten me again.

So after collecting parts for the last couple of weeks ive finally started tearing her down.

I'm going mild rather than wild this time around so i've got a z750 headlight and front guard, a set of tomaselli axis fat bars, serco bar risers and thats pretty much the extent of this mild build.

The zxr which is a 92 mod started life as a pretty shocking fighter attempt (The green bike) by the previous owner and i picked it up for only 1500$.

I have moded a zx7 single seat unit to it and built my own under tray/ fender eliminator for it and flicked a spray gun over to get it to wear im at.

Got abit done this morning stripped her down.

Lines look pretty good i recon, had a choice of head lights 1 is a z750 the other is a nsr150 nose fairing cut and modded ........... i went with the z750 one.

I like the agressive look to it and it suits the bike better i think.

Anyway i'm pretty much finished it a bit of paint to be flicked ove the headlight surround and sort out the speedo and idiot lights properly and of course some mirrors.

cheers damo

Done a bit more on my bike.

Thanks to Revheadpete for parting with his fighter headlight set up its now on my ZXR

Also fitted a led late model zx6r taillight.

Running wr450 speedo at the mo.

Fitted some mirrors and relocated the key down under the frame rail on the right side above the gearbox and cut off the key surround and braket off the top triple and smoothed it out.

Any feedback welcome as usual

damo1
15-01-2012, 10:56 AM
Yeah not a bad idea.

I think i'm gonna go with a custom 1 off air brush damaged steel look, not rips and tears!

Ive got in my head now what i wanna do just gotta get a round to doing it.

The 2nd world war grey steel stressed look ,hhmm, with rivets and bullet holes

damo1
15-01-2012, 01:35 PM
Na ive done that already on my dirt bike helmet Navy grey with rivets and old age look- less bullet holes anyway.
But i have been thinking of going back at it and putting an entry bullet hole at the front and an exit hole at the
back with a huge amount of blood running done the back of it for fun.

And i've done an army cammo on my open face commuter helmet as well.

I'll post some pics up of them for you.

I was thinking about going all out on this one with something like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kr8ErF_lLaU&feature=player_embedded

And then maybe panelling it in with rivets but not sure if it would be to much??

What do you recon??

Righto got the paint finished.

I decided to panel it out with rivets as well, and go with the damaged steel affect as well.

the headlight i just high lighted the creases with black and darked the the head light slots them selves.

All up the i reacon the paint job took me about 2hrs, i'm undecided about the wheels?
Not sure weather to do them satin black or the bluey silver i used as a top color.

i have also repainted the frame satin black and im going to blow in the swing arm black aswell.

As usual i'm open to any feed back neg/pos.

Cheers damo

every dog VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

WTF does this mean??

And cheers for the postage;)

I dont think charcol will suit it as there is no charcol on the bike to go with it.

I'm gonna do them satin black same as the frame- that way no matter what colour i paint the bike in the future the wheels will suit it.

Cheers for the feedback and i'll post more pics when i'm done.

I've also picked up an r6 shorty can that may make its way on to the bike as well, or i have a different idea altogether that i may run with.

Watch this space.

Damo, the paint work looks awesome mate, you have done a great job with it and the Lids too. black wheels for sure, but if you want a little contrast, polish the outer rim.

Heres the latest on the ZXR painted wheels, i re-angled the exhaust and also refitted the ram air tubes.

I'm still not sure what to do with them?? I dont want to fill, the holes in teh tank - i think they can work with the theme of the bike but what to do??

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Other than that i'm happy with the way it's turned out, for a budget fighter build it's ended up in my eye pretty tidy.

RevHead
17-03-2012, 02:04 PM
with the holes in the tank, could you make a bezel of some kind you could put a small gauge of some sort in the holes ,say water temp and oil pressure
bike looks tops,

damo1
17-03-2012, 02:10 PM
Nice idea, but they are the wrong angle mate. They are at sort of 45de to the flat of the tank and angle towards the bars unfortunately.

Id like to run the ram air pipes but not sure how or where to finish them off?

I was thinking of building a single ram air chute about 4" oval that runs between/over the tripples and is solid bolted/mounted at the front of teh tank and then running the pipes up to it at the sides and rear.

But i'm just not sure if it will work and it's a lot of work for it to be tossed in the trash if you know what i mean.

Bike looks good, I like it.
I like the ram-air tubes too.

The tank and pipes look good (to me)
as you say, its just a case of what you put at the ends.

RevHead
17-03-2012, 04:21 PM
hey Damo could you run the tubes under the bars to finish under the mask ,maybe get some stainless pipes made up n welded together so they plug into that ,or make them finish were they are just using as stainless so they come around both sides of the speedo unit, maybe paint the stainless up as machine guns ,something like that

sharky

Why not just mock up with carboard tubes painted silver....

And Machine guns WTF ???
