AFTER a quarter century of collecting and supplying toys for disadvantaged kids, Michael "Taz" Legard and the crew at Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club have decided a true celebration is in order.
Mr Legard said the usual procedure on toy run day was to ride down to the clubhouse from Picnic Point, drop off the toys, have a beer and a sausage sanger and head home.
This year they've pulled out all the stops and are holding a family fun day to share the joy of giving with as many members of the Toowoomba community as they can muster.
"This year we're supporting kids in foster care because there are a heap of kids who end up in foster care over the Christmas period," Mr Legard said.
"In theory, a foster carer could be landed with a kid on Christmas Eve and of course they won't have been able to buy anything.
"The toys will be distributed between the foster kids, Lifeline Darling Downs and the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation."
The fun day will feature music, rides for the kids, a bike and car wash and scores of gleaming motorbikes decked out in Christmas finery.
The ride leaves Picnic Point at noon on Sunday, with festivities taking place at the club house at 61 Water St.
