its coming along slowly the blade as parts come in drips and drabs (holiday to Floriday in Jan to get out of the way!)
The rear sprocket is on and by heck their is not much room between it and the swing arm! went for 50 teeth after wrongly thinking 52 was big! oops , measured up for a chain and incase anyone needs to know a 525 pitch with 120 links is what i measured, also a ducati monster 1000 uses this 525 chain with 120links so maybe worth looking into.
got the rear light wired in ok and figured if i extend my earth cable and live to the battery the whole loom eill sit ok under the seat.
the front guard and rear seat unit is rubbed down. got the tank to do next. the front im leaving for now as a newer blade upside down fork conversion and raisers is next. seen a few sets but these guys look ok too..

a wee update now on my blade, been a bit of time as holidays to florida take the wallet to new lows :(

but i now have my Ducati monster chain (525 pitch 120 link) and best of all i now have an exhaust. mate knocked it up for me using my akarapovic link from 2 into one then made the rest, its looking good wanted the 996 look but not so much room, still really pleased.

hi all
im trying to balance my carbs with the new exhaust system.
how do i run the bike with no tank? it would not fire up just set off a few VERY loud bangs in the exhausts

Suprisingly it needs a fuel supply to run.....remote tank hanging above with long fuel line ??

drewhonda900
09-03-2012, 07:14 AM
i had a small funnel into the fuel line for feeding fuel, with a bolt in the vacume hose..... not sure if this is right or wrong? seems wrong as its not running!!

Get a washing up liquid bottle with the little nozzel, clean it out and dry it then fill it with petrol and attach it to your fuel line. Get someone to hold it while you start the motor.

What CBRRRT said. I just use a Mount Franklin 2 litre bottle with the base cut out, then feed a fuel hose to the tap through the lid and tape it up so it doesn't leak. Put a couple of holes in each side of the bottom (which now has no base as you just cut it out before) and thread some string through them to make a handle for it to hang from upside down. Now you can do the whole thing yourself as you hang the bottle up (with the hose above the level of the engine obviously so it will flow into the tap), fill it with a small amount of fuel and play with the engine.

another update !!
tank seat and front fender are back from paint.look amazing in the light!
i have now been able to sort out the electrics and that under the seat. the rectifier is bolted onto the subframe and a nice little metal bit made a nice bracket for the rear brake res..
pretty happy now, the suspension can thing has been moved to inside the bike and cable-tied on out the way!

opinions welcomed, to unfair or not...................? like the fairing protection but also like fighter look!
decisions decisions. still want to change the forks to 929 forks.

If you check Jon's thread you'll see he went through the very same decision problem, and he eventually saw the light:

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?3823-CBRRRT-s-Shed.-(Index-on-page-1.)/page34

Sadly most of the photos have been lost since the change over! I'll have to se if I can get Sen to help me fix it up.

Jon should give you the latest photo of his bike finished.

Hey all i was excited about getting the bike together and went round to my mates to see all was ok.
got their and smoke was coming out under the seat after cutting out half way up the hill!
my rectifier had fried,litterally.
got a new one posted out and today i extended the cables to it and have mounted it infront of the battery, will look at mounting a fan to it also, but the main 30A fuse had gone so replaced it and went to start the bike but its now blowing ignition fuses , im going to check all the wires we extended tomorrow but would the rectifier frying do any other damage> cheers guys.
pics to follow shortly

its coming along just frustrating things holding it back like when i put my chain on i could not trn the adjuster so had to dismantle the whole hub and lube it all and now the rectifier that im going to look at today
check out CBRRRT's post im pretty mnuch followed his footsteps

my mate had the same thing on his blade. the rectifier needs to be mounted on the frame for heatsinking. he has his cable tied out of the way and it fied it. you can get heatsinking paste aswell. it came with my ignition module and it seems to work ok.

i unplugged all the connections on my bike today to find out what was wrong. why it keeps blowing the ignition fuse.
left them all out apart from the ecu and turned the key..pop..another fuse gone.. took out the ecu and turned the ignition on and it was fine so i plugged it all in one bby one, .side stand.. indicator realy neutral switch etc etc and finally the ecu..pop.
guess my ecu has succumbed to the land of the dead after the rectifier cooked/
new one ordered from fleabay to arrive next week.
running my dads second bike an old ZZR1100 on a G plate 14000 miles! fantastic bike so comfy!!

Are the rectifier and regulator a single unit in these? Have you tried putting an inline regulator on? It could be outputting too high a voltage.

Check the starter solenoid mate

And check these out, they are the bollocks

agree with jon here they are the bollox.
also take an earth wire off the back of the plate your
going to use as a heatsink and bolt it on to the battery earth.
have read it on a few forums it helps the reg/rec
so they say.

ordered the above rectifier unit.
and extended the cables to fit it infront of the battery and

the fan can be cut in half to have a spare unit, bargain!!
the rectifier is not mounted on a plate like it was before it just bolts onto the frame on a spare hole it had so sits off everything(make sence)?? does it need to be on a plate for heatsink reasons?
where is the starter solenoid? i checked continuity between all i could on the bike with good old haynes at my side and the ones i checked seemed ok
cheers guys im going to join the members as its been great on here and would like to do my bit!

I did that fan conversion on my blade, dit'n work. Then Frank and Neil pointed me in the direction of the electrex world unit and I've not hand any trouble since. Frank raised a good point about the earth link back to the battery, and something you should do no matter what unit you use.

The rectifier regulator should be mounted to a plate or the frame with heat sink paste between it and the mount to help wick away the heat the unit generates.

The starter solonoid is the bit that comes off the live (red) terminal on the battery, and has a 30amp fuse in it.

lastly, yes you should get a Haynes for you bike, I have one for every bike I've ever owned and fro the sake of 20 quid, they have saved me hundreds and taught me valuable info that expands my knowlge base.

They have never improved my spelling, but thats another story, ;)

well its been a while since i updated, bike is running well, got a slice of chequre plate and some heatsink paste, now rectifier is mounted infront of the subframe! works well.
passed an mot today with the exhaust having no baffles! chain guard fitted the now for mot may leave it on lokos ok, had the fairing off for doing clutch plates and think a belly pan will look good when i do the front end anyone got some ideas on these>>?
my speedo is not working but with the 52 tooth (AYE 52) it picks up quick in any gear specially racing M3's !!
my solo seat came loose as the Yamaha quality aint up to Hondas! the plastic is bolted with 4 small self tappers to a base that clips into the subframe. so had to stick a bolt under the foam part to hold it together, works a treat,
buld blew in number plate light when rectifier went so my dad hit the second hand shop and found a brand new caravan light for £2 and painted it black. looks and works fine!!

since my last visit i have made a few changes to my fireblade..
stripped her down and gave the engine a good clean down. used plenty degreaser and the a drill with a pointed wire brush.
got the frame powder coated, swing arm and a cnc machined billet top yolk with risers and Renthal Bars.
929 forks, front wheel and discs on, still using the zx6 front fender.
carbon heel plates.
still want to change the lights but they do just now as spent out!! see what you think any comments or feedback.
