Hey guys,

thought i'd introduce myself. just recently saw a car with 'streetfighters.com.au' decal on the back window and didn't know what it would be but was happy to find out it was what i was hoping, a site dedicated to bikes.

long story short, i had a mint 2005 GSXR 600 that i bought with 1100kms on it and unfortunately i got rear ended in 2007 by some old dude on a Harley that didn't see me and he wrote off my bike and that was it.

ANYWAYS, i want to get another bike so i'm looking to get an older bike. i am thinking i would like to pick something up around mid 90's (when bikes were uglier) for under $3500 and then just simply take off the fairings, headlight etc and maybe add some paint, headlight, singals etc and ride it as that while looking better than if it was still with fairings.

with that said, what's a good, reliable bike with lots of parts around, that makes a decent/good looking streetfighter with simple/budget modifications? i don't want to do much more than remove the fairings and change the headlights but want it til still look decent.
i want around 600-750 engine size...?

F3 CBR600 wouldn't be a bad option. Pretty cheap these days and aren't too bad a bike

If you're stripping things down to bare frame, the frame usually counts. Find some photos of the bikes you have in mind tripped down and it may influence you. Why do you think CBR900RRs and GSRX1100/750s are so popular? Check the model specific galleries to make a decision: http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?56-Model-Specific-Streetfighter-Galleries

I have a small budget and still want it to look decent without piling heaps of coin into it
thanks for the advice, i'll check out the specific threads..cheers

As long as you are innovitave and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you don't need a big budget. I built my bike in the shed and except for a few bolt ons at the end, most of the stuff was done in the shed on a budget.

BTW. Welcome aboard mate

Just keep trawlling eGay,til you find a rough lookin' bike in your budget, you'll get it cheap coz the fairings are rough, but who cares, you'll be throwing them in the bin anyway!!
I reckon CBR900s fighter well. It a good lookin frame when all the plastic shit is off it,tho you will have to update the massive ugly rear end on it!!

Here's acouple of worth lookin at,then add your own touches,

If theyve got 70+ feedback, and still at 100%,they've got to be fairly reasonable.
Just send them a question, and ask for a contact number and actually speak to someone.
Who knows, maybe someone on this site is familiar with that bike??

Cheap to buy?
easy to change?
tough motor?
lots of aftermarket stuff?
LOADS of fun to clown about on?

Bandit 1200.

Downside is they're as common hell and most
folk have been there, done that.

Still not a bad idea as a 1st modded bike.

Lot's of fan's on here.
