Seriously though, a bit of foam and a fibreglass kit and you can come up with whatever you want. Hundreds of dollars cheaper and you get something truly custom and purely awesome.

I really like the look of that small tail.... the k5/6 tail is wide and in my opinion needs to be slimmer to look good.
Where to buy 'em no idea but maybe google will be your friend ??

mubu
28-11-2011, 06:06 PM
Mate your spot on about the K5 tails i cant stand em,, yeah i googled a bit but not much joy so ill keep searchin.
When it comes to fibreglass mate im fucken terrible at it,, i wouldnt even attempt it but yeah something original would be nice.

K6Thou
28-11-2011, 07:32 PM
Thought I had with mine was to use the centre section of the original tail, glass the sides and maybe incorporate some indicators into the back of it. Similar idea to the original setup but smaller indicators = slimmer rear end.

mubu

Yeah that'd prob look ok but i sold all that shit to fund other shit Lol
Got the lights mounted and wired today looks fucken MAD MAX i love it, bright as too
Put them little indicators on but they dont flash!! Anyone got a solution? Do they make a replacment
LED flasher for a K5?

Nah mate tiles are easy to remove any traces of burnouts, it's burnouts on the lino and carpet that causes you to be thrown out.

K6Thou did you get your dials mounted yet? heres how i done mine anyway,, its pretty simple but works perfect,, my ignition is relocated so i could use the old ignition mounting holes on the clamp

Started with two pieces of 140 x 40 mm angle cut @ 100m
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/1-3.jpg

Measured the distance between the two new mounting holes drilled them out then cut a circle a bit bigger
than the headset neck
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/4-3.jpg

This is how it will sit on the bike,, the two pieces joined togeth to make a Z shape,, i also cut 40mm
off the longer section of angle to bring the dials to the correct height for me
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/5-3.jpg

Then i made a couple of tabs drilled them and riveted them in place (only one side shown in this pic obviously) I ended up trimming it down to so it dosnt foul with the cables
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/6-4.jpg

mubu
20-12-2011, 12:47 PM
Drilled a hole in the bottom dial casing and lock tighted a small bolt into place
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/8-2.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/7-2.jpg

Marked where the bold sits once mounted to the bracket with the rubber grommets and drilled her out,, lock tighted another nut on and wolla,, with the two grommies and one bolt its tight as and sits perfect :p

Mubu I haven't had a chance yet mate I have a few ideas that I might be able to do whilst working where I am for the next 3 weeks.

Just a thought mate but how will you deal with glare from the sun ?? It just looks like the dash will be hard to read at times with the lack of angle its mounted at.

It is my friend and a fucken good drop too :D

Mate the way the weather has been around here i dont think i need to worry about the sun!
Seriously though if i cant see it for a few seconds at times WGAF :p look the goods anyways
I couldnt help myself and took it for a quick blast round the streets the other day, no tail on it
at all lol,, but fuck me what a difference,, no weight on the front equals alot of fun..
1st and 2nd just refuses to keep the front wheel down,, i was thinking of gearing it down but not to sure now
I ended up buying a 2006 R6 tail section,, intergrated tail light and rear seat cowl just waiting for it
all to arrive then its just a matter of trying to make it all fit!! Anyone offering there skills??

Blacked out the bottom tripple clamp,, such a simple thing but what a difference,,
Also gave the front gaurd a bit of reshaping then hit it with the spray can
just untill its gets its new paint job..
Ive got cable ties holding the brake line and control wires in place just temporary
what did yous use for this?? ties look shite!!

mubu

R6 ass end rolled up this morning,, complete with a fucken crack,, im waiting for ching chong mong to reply!
Anyway looks ok i think,, Mr suzuki was even kind enough to prepare two holes exactly where the factory ones are on the botton of the underside, arigato go fkn zaimashita,, at the bottom its a perfect fit the rest though
the third pic is just the top piece literally just sitting there!
all opinions welcome :D

mubu
29-12-2011, 02:02 PM

LKC73
29-12-2011, 03:46 PM
Nice work mate, I think the R6 tail section looks good, and handy how the underside holes line up.

mubu
03-01-2012, 06:33 PM
well the R6 tail is pretty much in place,, a few brackets here and there and all the original mounting points
are screwed down and looking good,, not a single chop needed to the original K5 sub frame
the only issue now is that the seat sits about an inch too high so thinking about remoulding it and a recover??
also considering a remote rear cowl popper :p

R6 rear peg holes filled and mudded in
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/propertysalescom/rearholes.jpg

mubu
05-01-2012, 08:24 PM
this is pretty much how it will look from the back,, got the tail light wired the intergrated turn signals make the whole thing so much cleaner,, the cowl is just sitting there atm but everything else is good. working out how to hinge the cowl is pissing me off. seat still has to come down and im starting to hate the front ressy :p and that yoshi will end up on feebay i think!! GP on the cards
anyways having alot of fun with this bike and im gunna take it out for a ride in the next couple of days coss im the most impatient mofo in the world

mubu
13-01-2012, 04:27 PM
Sturt my chains older than dave mustaine so probly cant help you out mate...

been riding the bike for the last few days and its fkn awesome,, turns into corners so
good everything has held up well except for the number plate,, first it vibrated
loose than after todays ride through beachmont tambo mtn ect it folded itself up into a little
box!! wrong angle for the rear tyre but an easy fix so i'll make a new bracket
then it should be ready for paint :p
