Actually he's pretty clever advertising it the way he has. I'd never buy it but some of the bits he has are rare so I can see why it has the bids it does. I built up a C series Rapide in 92' out of a bunch of tea chests and using bits I bought cheap from a speedway bloke at Lidcombe . Sold it when I got baddly injured to help with medical bills but kept a B series engine(just missing 10% of it's parts) stashed in boxes under the workbench in my back shed. That was until about 5 years ago I made the mistake of inviting a fellow Vincent enthusiast around to show off the engine. He came back a month later when he knew I was at work , told the conniving bitch I was married to what I had & what it was worth and bought it off her for $8,000 without my knowledge . Due to the crowded nature of my sheds I didn't notice it was gone for about 3 months . Never did see any of the cash from that and I reported it as stolen . Only found out the engine hadn't been stolen when the guy tried to rego the restored engine about 2 years ago and the guy was able to produce a receipt with my recently seperated wife's details on it........ The engine at the time was worth about $12k .

I've got the receipt here for my Dad's vincent that he bought in London in 1957 for the princely sum of 64 pounds, 16 shillings.

I was brought up around Vincents as speedway sidecars and they fkn pull! Torque on tap.
My Father would be interested in those parts.
There are some enthusiasts in the UK that have bought or replicated the mouldings for casting replacement parts, so you can get new stuff but because it's all hand made = $$$.

I reckon if you did have the money to throw at this sort of thing, you'd be better off with one of these - http://www.irvingvincent.com/gallery.htm

An interesting read here - http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/Motorcycle-Reviews/2008-03-01/Vincent-1300.aspx

Speaking of the Silk, there was a very tidy example at the All British Rally this year.
