carby slide modified

This is a standard BST36 slide, mine has one of the outside holes filled to block it off.Why would this be done, and am I better off unblocking it.I presume it previously had a jet kit but has standard jets now.e.g main is 112.5 bike is 89 750 cheers:)

I thought standard one's only had one small hole of about 2mm.
To gain more mid range you had to drill that hole out to 3mm? and add one more on the other side 3mm as well.
(there was a mark for it)
This mod only worked with std carb settings and air box (not with a jet kit)
I had to fill one in when i put pods and a dyna jet kit in my carbs.
