I'm going to put a suggestion to the wife.
I will do what I can to sell her bike for the best price and oversea the deal on the condition that I can then build/buy whatever a modern 400 'fighter for her.
I'll get bored if I'm not tinkering with summat and this way I'll leave mine alone for a while...
I'm gonna do this as it will, hopefully, keep alive her interest in bikes and that can only be good for us both.....

So I'm looking for a modern 4cyl 400...cbr,fzr,zxr etc...even a gsxr...Doesn't have to be reg'd or anything...can be just a frame and engine.
Would look at the 400 bandit and xjr but they'll probably be too heavy as they are steel frame.
The cbr was 163Kg dry,1375mm wheelbase and 750mm seat height.
These are the parameters I'll be working to. If I can get $3500 ish for hers I should be able to turn something out....maybe even make a profit whilst doing it :D

Well she has gone for the idea...But the budget will only be what I can get for the zzr...bloody 'orse takin all her money...
Oh well at least she said Yes to it....

I'll look into the fzr's.....should be able to find a cheap one...

Buy my fzr400/600 and do what should be done to it, with someone with any skill. Bike is perfect except for a hole in the top of the radiator, and you'll need a new tail and thats it.

<subliminal message>Do it, Buy my bike </end subliminal message>

Not interested in a zzr6 fighter.

the frame is 1991 fzr400 (engine mounts strengthened for engine)
the engine is 1996 yzf600r roughly 45 000ks on it. (motor swap done by MMM @ slacks creek with mod plate)
the front forks are 1996 cbr600 (non usd)
the front wheel is 1996 cbr600
brembo brakes all round
rear suspension is 1999 R6
handle bars are Protaper
grips are Harris
new battery
new sprockets
new chain
new spark plugs
recent oil change (oil and filter)
aftermarket harley headlight
2007 R6 hotbodies slash cut exhaust
Recently replaced bottom gaskets

Never had any problems with this bike.
Needs Radiator Repaired (one hole).

Cost me to this point: ~ $9000

Willing to sell for: $4500 (im not desperate to sell though as alot of my sweat and tears has gone into the bike, its hard to let go)

M, that bike sounds the goods. Is that 400 frame alloy or steel?

Sharky, you could do worse than going the same route as M has.

I could mate, byut the budget is what I get for the Zzr6.
I'm wondering what I could get by wrecking out the Zzr and keeping all the bits needed for the 'fighter....
Sell it as a rolling chassis with a good motor....

Frame is alloy, light as anything. actually i doubt the whole bike weighs in at anymore than my old 250.

And Sharky not to worry, as soon as i sobbered up, i realised i prob. shouldnt have offered, (didnt read your posts well enough)

FOOKIN WOMEN !!
She has now announced 'I don't think now is the right time for me to get another bike....I feel you are pressuring me into getting it' :(

Bit of a change from 'I think I'll sell my zzr and get another 400' & 'I miss riding my bike' ???????

It was her friggin suggestion yet I am the one 'pressuring' her into getting it ???????

Made me look a right twat with the wreckers....pissed him off...

I really hope it doesn't make reserve on ebay now....not gonna waste my time on it :(

Oh well....just means more time for me to work on my spare engine [}:)]

Mate just sell it & use the cash from the sale to move house and change ya phone number!

Better still, just move house (I know you already are) & leave the fuckin thing there & let HER worry about it.
If it just sits there & rots away from neglect, then that's HER problem.
Focus your attention on positive stuff, like your own build, Let her come crawling back to you.
If she doesn't,,,,,,,,,,well,,,,you know the drill.;)

Yeah...I meant [u]raise</u> the reserve....that way it won't sell unless [u]she </u> negotiates with the high bidder.
