The wife and I are thinking of relocating back to Brisbane, the only catch is that it depends on work. I've had enough of Defence Life so will be taking a big risk moving back over there without a job etc. I have a few other irons in the fire (Mining) that Im waiting for the final answer etc.

If Im going to relocate to Brisbane, I will be looking for a full-time job so if any of your BB people have any contacts or are employers yourself looking at employing a hard working ex-Defence prospect, feel free to email me through email link. I Have the following quals that might be of interest.

Cert IV Training and Assessment,
Forklift Ticket,
Skidsteer/Bobcat ticket,
Senior First Aid, and
HR Licence.

Ive had considerable admin experience as a clerk within Army, Ive also had considerable experience in Security (MIlitary Police etc) of Bases/Facilities. I havent gotten my Security Licence as yet as would prefer not to work nightshifts if I can get away with it. On a side note, if anyone has any suggestions for employment (minus gigilo/circus clown) suggest away...

Do it jarrod you know its gods country ;) - i could easily score you a job here with those qualification but mate you are too good to be a factory hand around here and the pay would be average at best. Unless of course you want an admin inventory management role but that job is just vague number crunching and would drive you batshit crazy if you are anything like me.

Central Qld is good mate and not too far to the big smoke.
Plenty of jobs in the Gladstone region too mate...
with what you have to offer you will get work no problems.
We have a position coming up for someone with what you have but it isn't till Feb 09

Even with the downturn you must be able to get something/anything for GOOD dollars in W.A.

Fuck if you've got two arms and two legs in this state you can't go wrong.

Nah, the realisation that It will cost shit loads to move ourselves back to QLD in future has us thinking that its best to go back and discharge in QLD. That way Defence moves us as well as paying us lots of money to drive back...

Kels has been feeling a tad home sick and wants to be back near family..

There is always work for GOOD bobcat operators.
But Brissy has a thousand who think they are and wonder why they
dont get many hours.
One of the subbies we hire from had several bobcat/excavator combo's
sat in his yard at 10am when I went past, not working.
I know to another operator who is on almost permanent hire,
even if there is next to no work, he good, VERY good.

Labourers start at around $20 an hour casual, if your willing to work
hard and turn up, and your not dumb, you wont be a labourer for long.
Not unusual to see a labourer take home $1000.

Within a couple of years in the civil trade, I was earning more than
after 24 years in the Print trade. Lots of opportunities for those
who aren't frightend to get dirty and work.

Another day, another dollar..........
