Just curious to know how many old skoolers (Or just plain old) are still about.
Carbies for meeee.

And why you like either to just to get a picture.

I like carbs as that is what I grew up with but with the new generation injection set ups almost anything is possible with the push of a computer button and you have a completely different bike.

But I still like setting up carbs and the look of a nice set of smooth bores with k&n's ooooohhhhhhhh yeeeeah does it for me

Think I may need to get out a bit more

Hmmmm, I choose old skool carbies.
Then again, i've never had to deal with efi.
There is something about the look of pods and an air cooled engine.....

Injection...I like it a lot...and modern systems are plug n play....wheels stands at the crack o the throttle.
I hate flat spots and when tuning carbs on a modified engine it can take ages to tune them out...But carbs are simple and can have advantages in some applications.

i prefer carbs because i know how they work,
but when it comes to turbos or surpercharging a bike, i would convert to efi, just for the ease of changing
the whole fueling system with out having to strip down the bike to it

I hate carbies! Theyre so fiddly. Anything I can plug into my laptop gives me a boner guaranteed.

Currently undergoing some fuel delivery, structual and cosmetic changes. Between work, kids and other commitments, not much is getting done.

Nothing sounds better than open carbies or even flatslides.
I find efi to fiddly.
Call me an old man, who cares.

Jim from what I can see from a quick search on google it looks like the dealer might be the easiest, especially as the bike will still be ubder warrenty :D:D
Found this post:-
If you are feeling a big flat spot, you most likely have the wrong tune (the new one didn't take). Tell them you need 10121. The difference between 10120 (standard pipe tune) and 10121 ( Triumph race can tune) is huge. The race can map does not have any flat spot in it and will smooth out the power delivery.

I have been running Tuneboy four about four months. Tuneboy had mistakenly put the standard bike tune up as both standard and aftermarket on their website. I was experincing the same issues you are now. Once if figured out what was was wrong and reported it to them, they put the correct tune up on the site, which I then downloaded and applied to my bike.

It runs like a champ now.

I do notice that it sounds a bit rough when running with no load on the engine (coasting in gear), but when I wear ear plugs it sounds perfect. I figure it's a bit of resonace in the can causing the sound.

Tune boy seems to be able to talk to the ecu

Yep Tuneboy is great for Triumphs etc, makes the Sagems as programmable as any aftermarket ecu .

mate with an open can the trumpy's are known for crackling and farting when backing off even with the new tune - it's part of the charm!!:D

Evad has some great links and contacts for this mate. He fuel injected his '79 Z650! Try emailing him or sticking up a new post to get his attention.

Hey Jim

the open pipe tune will smooth/improve things a little bit due to the freer (is that a word?) flowing exhaust - think the dealer slugged me about $70 to load up the new map (bit expensive for a couple minutes work) but I think it was worth it - don't know if it was the sound of the exhaust or all in the head but it sounded/felt like it was running better
