That's the best clip I've seen in ages! Good one Large.

That's awesome. And to think that back in the late fifties and sixties they were running around there on Norton's and AJS, BSA etc. Incredibly brave riders.

Shame insurance liability and all that stuff has spoilt the fun. Would love to see em doing it again there.

Be so much more interesting watching em on bikes now days than in the tin tops...

Senfuckingsational Rich, the first clip is classic 80s racing [:p]:D[8D]:)[^]
The second clip is a bit unfortunate, but bloody hell, that 1100R had some grunt alright. [:0]
Feel free to stick more of 'em up. [8D]

+1, if it's excitement you're after you can't beat the combination of flexy frames, heavy engines, skinny tyres & the torque you only get from an oldskool longstroke aircooled 4 banger. [:p]
Wayne Gardner, Mal Campbell & Craig Mc Martin get around the Island in 1m 42s on Period 5 (pre 1980) bikes (CB 1100 R, RG 500 & Irving Vincent respectively) so they still go like fuck.
A few well known names in the first clip too.
I would give my lefty to race a bike around Bathurst... or even do a trackday there... or even do a few spirited laps around there on a quiet day. [8D]

That was freakin sensational
Love how you couldnt get your knee down cus the cases ground out.
And yes it blew the GSX into the weeds.

The 2nd vid?
Easy If my CB was anything to go by it was a motherfucker of a tank slapper

That was fucking awesome. What sort of speeds were those old bangers hitting down conrod back then?

That was Late night ledgends on ABC2 a few months ago. Taped it. That stack, I found out from a couple of old fellas at work, was caused by his front wheel falling off. Mechanic didn't do it up. Fucked him up good.

Fucking horn!!!

I have ridden a modern prepped Period 5 CB1100R race bike... Horn!
And, I rode my Bandit 1200 round Baffurst on a quiet day, so I can almost begin to imagine how it might have felt to punt one of those beasts!!!

Them cases were a problem, banged mine on the ground several times in Kew in the early 80's, flexy frame i could put up with , you got used to the motion pretty quickly.
