You regulars will know who's bike this is. Regardless of any personal opinions of the owner (this is a bike site remember) please admire the thought that's gone into this latest engineering piece:

"RGV chassis with a DR750 engine. Piston mean speed of 23mtrs per second@ 8500rpm 85rwbhp,130kg.wheelbase 1360mm! Front end rake 27deg! insane lean angle."

You'll catch this bike racing alongside Devo very soon.

Different... I like.

I bet the front wheel gets minimal use!

My friend Paul and I discussed something similar acouple of years ago. It's a great idea and I'm suprised these's not more of this being done. Last time I was at Broardford there was a guy with a fzr framed Dr800 race bike.

So, what happened to the other project?

It's on hold mate. Racing comes first this time.

Yep, will be racing with Devo, and Rexie, and me next year :)

But, not with that front end.... I think some clip ons are on the way too [8D]

It does look like fun alright but 85rwhp is dreaming - about double what a DR 750 engine actually makes - unless he's planning on turboing it.

Funkenfresh
17-10-2007, 06:31 PM
how easy would it be to rego something like that weapon!?!

DaveK5
17-10-2007, 07:18 PM
85rwhp is dreaming
My XR640 engine makes 65hp...dyno'd.

TT600 engines seem to be a common fit to RGV frames up this way...A Dr Big engine now that would be cool.

Nothing personal Dave but your dyno operator is either not on the level or the machine calibration is way out (unless of course you're running forced induction or N2O), I've owned & raced 5 XR6's over the years (still have 2) & have built a few hot engines for them incl. HRC kits, flatslide carbs, custom cam grinds, ti valves/springs, 1 660cc kit & had Pip Harrison (ex HRCA XR GURU) port & flow 1 of my heads to within an inch of it's life, the most HP I ever got at the rear wheel is 52 & that motor was a high spec, big $$ grenade - standard RWHP is 30 - 34.
I've put a lot of time in, spent lots of $$ & done tons of research on the old XR6 engines & I can tell you for certain that there aint no way a n.a. XR6 will make 65 RWHP.
Just out of interest, what is done to the motor other that the 640cc bore?

come on ladies stop the dick waving.... there are a lot of people around with big horse power, but what good is horse power in the twisties...

TurboKat

Who's waving their dick ?

DaveK5

Out of interest..XR640 built for flat track...engine actually started out as an XL600(shorter stroke), knife edged/balanced crank, lightened piston,H Beam rod, lightened flywheel, flat slide carb...head ported n polished, flow benched, web cams, black diamond valves(I think,it's been through a few different types) all work done by JB automotive (John Barbagello Racing), modified clutch (my own work) + more and I was runnin a mix of nitro benzine and methanol.
And yes I spent many dollars...blew up 3 motors in development, destroyed gearboxes the list goes on....and to be honest I've had enough of hand grenade motors...it lost me more races than I won.

And as far as HP goes I saw a YZ426 run 52hp on the dyno at Burdekin Yamaha in June...don't believe me ring em and ask em...they have a race team thats damn hard to beat out on the flat track.

I freely admit I know jack shit about gixxers but big singles I do.
And my dick I tend to leave it alone thanks very much.;)

speeddemon

85 HP my arse unless it has some way more than serious cams, porting crank etc....!! show mw the dyno if its normally aspirated - and excuse me for the following rant if you can.

Tigcraft XTZ engines barely make that and were one of the highest tune engines around at close to 700cc, CR500 ported to all hell barely makes that...etc...etc..

Sorry to diiapoint but i have ridin a DR800 at uni and its the shitest thing that came out of my arse - they did not sell well for a reason people..unless you like a tractor donk that shakes the shit out of you.

hmmmnz
20-10-2007, 10:12 PM
i think its cool, even with the standard 60hp of the dr engine,
it should be nice and light, and a good fun,
you lot are like a bunch of women arguing over who has the fattest arse, :D
we all know that a dr won't pull 85hp but whats the point in stating the obvious??

thats right....obvious aint it[:o)] but not much fun in the twisties if he has used plastic dog bones though [:o)]

Booster
20-10-2007, 11:05 PM
I can see a potential 65hp ... I was runnin a mix of nitro benzine and methanol...
all depends on % may be around 10 ???

Ok without shaking my dick in the wind,Please refer to page 93 in the RAPID ed.10/07.It is a mathematical equation. So you just have to protract the numbers.I know that it is not all a perfect world but a standard Dr750 makes 60bhp strangled off the floor.Comparing a XR with a DR is irrelevant & usless information.Lets look at the Dr internally. It was built in 1988 at the hieght of GSX-R 750 racing development. It has a bore & stroke of 106x84mm.Twin carbies huge valve face area, the gear cluster is the same as GSX-R 1100(undercut)& the same clutch as the old GSX 1100(Kat) but lightened. The cam drive system is the same as XR100(so easy)From builing this engine we were very impressed with what "S" was trying to build. Now when you place twin bst38mm carbs,Dyna igniter.Huge porting to the head & a custom exhaust(Foran)we are expecting this output.
It may not have 85bhp but the torque curve will be flatter than an ocean tugs hull.
Chong rode one of these back in the 90`s it was known as "McBrutus" & made the numbers we ask of Mundy`s bike.
We have built it from crank up & its a RACE bike built for corners,so if we do get a readout on the dyno, well we`ll put it up.But all we wanna do is "grid up & go" & if we prove something it will be at a track.
End of argument:D[8D]

hmmmnz
21-10-2007, 09:39 PM
i dare say you'll squeeze a few more hp out of the old girl as she was a strangled engine, but i think even with the extra work i'd be very surprised if you could get the extra 25hp your envisioning, being made at the same time as the gsxr is irrelivant, it was never build to be fast,
even porting isn't going to give you a whole lot more.
but good luck to you,
i still think it'll be a fun bike to ride

Good one chong, Tell Mundy BOH says G'day

SPEED DEMON WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE

I have sat on the side lines for months listining and watching i while mundy has been building this bike .
With the idea of racing and acualy having a go .
more than I expected to see him ever be able to do as the day to day for this guy is more than you SPEED DEMON could even begin to comprehend.
I had the pleasure of racing elbow to elbow with this guy probably before you pissed standing up.
he is having a go and getting through the day to day.
And trying to stay activly involved in the sport that he was involved in before yo pissed standing up SPEED DEMON.

SURE the new bike is a on paper tec sheet as far as the power numbers go but it has been built and yes we will see what the power facts are if it fucken matters.
The bike has been built
and it wll be raced next season and i will probably do the spanners for him.
He will be out there having a go not sitting at his fucking computer shooting his fucking mouth off.
about stuff he has no fucking idea about
why SPEED DEMON have you or are you targeting mundy
If you must target some one pick me as I have had enough of f/wits like you fucken mouths.
hit the switch that turns the computer off get your hand off you cock build a bike or race a bike or may be come for a ride WITH ME!!!
OR MAY BE SHUT THE FUCK UP and have ago you self

chong

ps sorry to the members who do not fit this description
and hi to those whos company i have enjoyed but at least he is aving a go .keep in mind what life has delt mundy in recent times
at least he is still doing what we all love and having a go.
