Hi all,
New to the site. Currently riding an 88 FZR750.
either contemplating selling it, buying a '85 GSXR750 and turing that to a street fighter as its a better platform. Or just keeping it as somehting different and fighting my FZR750.
Limited budget, i will be doing all the work myself.

(i looked into the FZR1000 conversion, the 2nd hand engine they wanted $2600 with a trade in, but its still a heavy bike)

Whats the thoughts out there?

those old gixxers make some of the nicest fighters out there man. they look real old school which isnt really my type but hey you can always do custom body work.

ah yeah
welcome to the madness by the way

i was thinking the gsx because its high power to weight ratio compared to bikes of its age, decent after market ranges of products, and the fact theres a lot of 'how to' information on modding these oldies.

unfortunately the frame does look really old school, a bit of bog and matt black paint can fix that,

where the fzr has a 'modernish' frame, yet has a steel undercarridge, again matt black can fix.

i sort of feel like, im spending this money on a 750, and it will still be an old heavy 750,

but then i think, i paid bugger all for the bike, would be a great learning curve doing the work myself, and if i loose in resale value then meh i had fun.

biggest delimar is i need a bike as a daily so any mods need to be either overnight jobs or week end jobs, or ridable.

maybe i'll get a cheap GSX as a project HRMM

Heres some pics of my FZR.
I intend to do a headlight conversion, and new seat unit. a handle bar conversion. handlebar mounted mirrors. bellypan. and a underslung can like on a buell. i was going to make a new can, as you can see the rank homejob one on there atm, i feel i could do a much better job. I'll keep it 750 for now, and drop in the 1000cc when my motor goes bung. I want to paint the fairings and tank blue, and everything else 2 pack matt black. Hrm, now where to start...
