This is my first year studying Bachelor IT http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/26.gif externally through Southern Cross Uni (only part-time as I work full-time).

I know exactly what you mean though - all day at work I think "Right! I'm going to get home and study!" but then I get home and jump on to ASF! [:I] :D

the only thing you need to know about OH&S is it is designed to stop humans evolving.

look at it this way: if we were still in the wild, stupid ppl would fall off cliffs and get eaten by tigers and stuff.

meaning that only clever people are left to breed and therefore ensure that humans get smarter and smarter.

Protecting the stupid people in the world only allows them to dumb down the species.

so ner.

I work in the steel industry, i'm sick to death of Workplace Health and Safety [xx(]
Every week there is a new rule which makes my job harder and slower. :(
Long pants, long sleeves, hard hat, chin strap, glasses, ear plugs, steel caps, witches hats, fork lift seat belts, driver safety mats, chained off loading bays,, opening gates for every truck to enter......

Just fuck-off and let me do my job!!!! :(

My 2 cents.

..id like to know where the ohs guy was when some dozy Bosnian non english speakin twat was allowed on my site subsequntly parting me from a good bit of my left forefinger
excerpt from my so called foremans report[who wasnt even there!]
"..and as mr walker fell asleep whilst operating the cutoff saw which resulted in his injury ..."
needless to say this was withdrawn
the aforementioned eastern euro chap had actually dragged the peice of ally i was cutting across the floor and my finger into the saw ..got fuck all for it and it cost me all my savings from England just to keep our heads above water
The best thing the OH&S couldve done was tell this guy to go learn english and come back when he can do the induction without help ..apparently "i needed to know how to say Stop in yugoslavian" ..i did try german but that didnt work either
Anyway great stuff further education i went back to college in 1991when i was 31 to do a onc in engineering ..i learnt how to beat 19yr olds in entrance exams and taught them how to do mental arithmetic,,twas a good experience
btw sorry for the rant

PT, you think OHS is gay! Maybe you should go to another school after you've finished with the one you're at now. One where you can learn about life. Life is like a shit sandwich - the more bread you've got, the less shit you eat. OHS might be gay to you but I'm an OHS specialist in oil and gas and I can bet that almost any job you'll get pays less than mine. I learned a long time ago that, for the most part, if you can't beat them your better off to join them

Congratulations to the both of you for etching out an existance basking in the smug glow of OH&S. I personally have left permanent jobs with Rio Tinto, BHP and SGS where i can assure you i made considerably more money than the OH&S people of the same companies. My reason for leaving on every occasion without excetion was because of retards in OH&S making the job impossible to do.
I dont mean this to be insulting, I have no idea what you do or how sensibly you carry out your job, but like cops, management and parking inpectors, I see OH&S workers in two ways, some are out to make a difference and make things safer and easy for employees and others are out to keep GM's safety bonuses intact and in turn spend thier days licking the guilded arses of their managers like the souless drones they are. Those people can lick the rancid sweat off the back of my nuts. I work for me, nobody tells me what to do or how to do it and when i get out od bed every morning, i cant wait to go to work..

OOOhhhh that was a can of worms I didnt see coming[:p]Nice!tho to get some different idea's.
I didnt really need help on on anything, just wanted to see peoples thoughts, so it worked :D:D
I work 2 jobs - 1 in management & 1 very hands on. The hands on job I actually enjoy doing, when I look at it from an oh&s side I do some things they Oh&S people would scream at [:p]( I can't see a problem standing in front of 6 motorcycle's with people who have never riden before - I can run out of the way really fast [:p][:p])
The other job I scream at the oh&s practice's from other people[:p][:p]
Safe work practice come down to COMMON SENSE! Most of have it , we just have to remember to use it [8D][8D]

I hear you there Azrael. Some OH&S people I've met are definitely brain dead arse lickers.

I've been on the tools in several industries, especially construction, as an employee, a subcontractor and a company owner and have a genuine understanding of progressing the job safely whilst actually not slowing the job down where possible.

I too have left jobs, both as a tradie and an OH&S specialist because of arse licking fuckwits.

I firmly believe my job is to progress any given job as practically as possible, given today's regulations/requirements, not stop it.
Maybe that attitude is why I don't have any trouble finding work and am paid great money to help and enjoy the company of people who are damn good at their jobs

..further to what what Azreal said [the ohs guy on millicunts site was only there to keep his bosses from losing their jobs ,it was get the golf club open by all means necessary fuk evrything else] what pissed me off was id only been here a few months and it nearly sent me home,

Having said that ive worked on some dodgy site s in Europe and England[channel tunnel] so its not unique to here ..the Tunneling industry is amongst the most dangerous forms of construction ,even now in the 21st century they still lose 1 man per every 5 metres dug world wide thankfuly most of those are in countries which still use antiqueted techniques ..

We do need to be able to work in a safe environment but ffs if ur trained in a particular trade u should know how to perform that trade safely ..if the bosses would let us get on with what we do best and allow enough time to do it safely wed ALL be going home at night its TIME that they use against us ,unrealistic deadlines are what kills most workers in the world

HaHaHa, quite funny actually cruise but I think you've missed my point. I was just making an observation based on many experiences that we won't be able to beat them (OH&S Nazis) so why not join them, make some serious cash and try to bring some reason back into the equation.
