Actually it got me thnking that I should rebuild the motor, and use it as a replacement for when I pick up a GS1000. Trim some weight and width off the old girl (especially since it'll have ta drag my fat ass along).

First Grid

Saturday was spent chasing tuning and electrical setup, the bike was handling well. Jetting was sorted and a brand new larger battery fixed the top end miss. Sunday was looking good for the 1 hour race but unfortunately a head gasket blew in sunday practice ( we guess) so we were out for the day. Rexie was still stoked just to be out there on the track.

Fair play to Rexie. And don't he look good out there!? Shame about when he takes the helmet off.....

Loving that bike. Are the wheels different colour orange or is that the light from the sun through the red number plate making the back one look darker?

TurboKat
13-11-2007, 06:14 PM
Good shit Chris/Rexie. Shame about the head gasket :(
2 questions, what is that No.72 bike? & what is that N.E. Gixer doing lining up on the dummy grid with the P5 bikes?

Chris41
13-11-2007, 07:25 PM
Wheels [u]are</u> different colors, Rexie changed from the 18s to 17s in the week before the race and we put slicks on as he couldn't get cheap readily available race rubber for the 18s, and he just used an RGV front he had for the baby Bandit.
The GSXR was on the same grid as we had mixed practice. The 1 hour meet is not a point score towards the club championship so the classes are mixed a bit and different race formats are sometimes used. It is a two day meeting (next year three day) and most of us stay down there it's basically our end of year <s>pissup</s> party and bulk fun hanging out with your racing mates that you usually only see every couple of months.

No. 72 is an interesting bike it is Ivan Hoeys 840cc, XS650 in a Rob North frame its' launches have to be seen to believed it really hammers of the line.

In regards the engine no race prep was done so we probably deserved the failure but now that the bike is race ready and we have some more time up our sleeve we will prep the 1135 for club racing and start on a 1260 fully built race engine.

Sounds like a top way to spend a weekend.
