G'day Guys
Ben from Melbourne. Long time browser first time poster, with a bit of a cununndrum for you wise fighters.
Went round and inspected my first "big bike" a streetfightered 2000 bandit 1200. and after the testride rocked my socks off and i really love the style the previous owner has started and i can see potential in it...i have a dilemma
The bike has: full hindle exhaust with carbon can, gsxr750 forks, acewell speedo, braided lines, bars and underbar mirrors, newish tyres, 8months rego.
Problems: small ding in tank. tank half paint stripped and some paint testing on it. some paint scratching on rear ductail and a reasonably good job done filling in holes from removed grab rails. 1 fork seal leaking. head light low beam didnt work (hopefully globe). old horn had snapped off. tacho & fuel guage not wired up with new instrument. the fender has been "eliminated" to the point that the numberplate is actually cut and bent 90degree and bolted directly onto the rear ductail. the rear indicators are miniscule and partially obstructed by the plate.
my main concerns are being able to get the bike to pass a roadworthy. the seller isnt budging on his price of 6g and dosent want to pay for RWC. i can do the fork seals, headlight(if its a globe) and horn myself with a little help so im not too concerned about them. I am however worried that the fender and indicators may make it fail the RWC. does this sort of a thing usually cause a problem? what would you guys do about getting it RW?
i have done a check and its never been stolen or written off. At the moment he is taking it to a shop to get them to advise what will be needed for roadworthy and i am waiting for him to get back to me.
So yeah... do you think that this is an ok deal for 6? i know its not fantastic. however i rather like the style and alot of the pricier mods that i would have done myself are alreaddy taken care of.
My main concerns are being able to get the bike to pass the RWC within the 14days. The engine seems in pretty good nick and the bike in general looks good. it looks like someone has started to do a proper conversion and started doing it right untill they ran out of money.
please help me with a little advice. Im sure u guys deal with theese issues all the time when buying bikes.
to reward your patience i have included a pic from the sales add. u cant see the paint imperfections or anything but it gives u an idea of the style. I have visions of a semi-industrial style with a combination of matte-blacks and pollished alloys...:)
Cheers Ben
