Having a blond moment..[:I]..
The pilot mixture screw thingy...you know the ones you adjust on the top of the carbies just infront of the carb tops...
Is it in for richer or out ??

It should be in for richer.

Depends on the bike Sharky...

If the screw is on the engine side of the carb body, the more you unscrew the mix screw, the more fuel you let in, the richer.
If the screw is on the airbox side of the carb body it is the opposite. The more you unscrew it, the more air you let in, the leaner.

99% of 4 stroke road bikes are the former, out = richer. :)

1.5 - 2 is the go on the 1300 not 100% about the 1100 but this really only effects A/F ratio at low RPM or idle speed.

Yeah, does depend on the bike. My old XJ900 was in for richer though - thought the XJR would be the same??

According to my reliable source of information, on a GSX type carby, it is out for richer.

You're right there Pommie, if you screw them in too hard, you distort them and then you can never get them to idle properly again.... gently gently does it.

One of the fitters in our workshop was a mechanic for the Kiwi Suzuki importers in the '80's an absolute mine of information, top bloke, he makes more money working in mining now, my gain...
