View Full Version : Fiend's "Bruiser" is finished ( new picts )

Fiend

Ive finally began the transformation from Ben's Bitsa to Fiend's "_________". The new tail has lightened and modernised the bike. The old subframe was cut-up and adjustable braces used. The underseat exhaust will be moved back down near swingarm. Hiding the electrics wasn't easy. New design front gaurd. Looking for suitable headlight... Can't wait to get the new paint colour on. I'll put more picts up then.

I never really noticed how big that original tail unit was until now. The new one certainally makes a difference.

No the battery and electrics were in the original tail under the seat in a box that Ben had made. I was going to keep that idea but after seeing it fitted, found that it looked better if it was moved. That then was a problem. :( But it's all hidden now.

I'm a bit worried about that as well mate. What are the uprights, and how much do you weigh? They will be getting some serious forces when you give it a proper blast. A collapsed tail isn't much fun. Just ask Phill. That's one area I would over engineer if anything. The actual concept and design of the bike is great though. Nice choice.

Iam with you Gix mate it looks sh#t hot but much weight will it handle?.... ive seen rod type subframes before in a larger diameter?

I've wondered about that as well, but these braces are light weight race components and I've looked into the stresses and strength of them and hope they work. Time will tell.[xx(]
And yes I'm a bigger/heavier size...

What did happen to Phill? Is there a tread about it?

His was actually his dog bones (on the way to this year's AFR) but same principle. He was doing some decent speed when this happened:

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/images/events/AFR07/gallery/IMG_2807.jpg

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/images/events/AFR07/gallery/IMG_2811.jpg

But at least with dog bones the whole bike stays the same basic shape, a broken subframe would have you collapsing off the back and loosing control. Just trying to look out for you mate.

Fiend rides out of control all the time anyway, so it wont matter!

New paint on ( nothing flash ) Getting Pinstrips or Decals for it. Not sure what it needs yet....

Just needs Muffler fitted up and Phillip Island MotoGP in a couple of weeks.

And a different Headlight... Still unsure what to do....

Looks sweet mate,i'd say go with something
blue for the decals so you don't take away from the
engine casing and discs.

Thanks Hooligan. I like that "Bruiser" that's the look I was going for. It may not win a prize fight with Ben's or BanditRods, etc, bikes but it'll hold it's own in the back streets.. Ha Ha..:D

That's why I sprayed it in Hammertone Gun Metal Paint. Rough and ready. Built to use and abuse.[B)]

And FIGHTERMC thanks. That's what I was thinking. Something like this with grey's and blues to bring it all together.

Thanks BanditRod. I have today picked it up from having the exhaust fitted and have yet tested to see how loud it is....Ha Ha:D

I'll let you guys know how the tail braces hold up after the weekend....And then some quality pics after a general tidy-up ...

P.S. if ya don't here from me, it didn't turn out so good.....Um yeh.

Fiend's Bruiser is Finished..

All done for now. I'm pretty happy with the new look! The old Blue was nice but "not me". Test ride went well, after I got home and tightend everything that come loose.

Gix11 the struts feel strong but every person that see's it say's the the same thing.... "It doesn't look strong" Time will tell...[xx(]

The paint, tail and exhaust are definately enough to make it yours. Bruiser looks great, fiend. I've seen those pipes on ebay. What're they like?

Reagrdless of the strut strength mate, that thing does look bloody good. Unless you really knew Ben and his bikes before there is no way that anyone would know this is Bitza. Good work mate.

Fiend
27-09-2007, 03:53 PM
Thanks guy's. Just doing this modification makes me appreciate all the hard work that goes into these/your bikes.[^]

hmmmnz:- i'm leaving the blue bits for now as they suit it better than I thought.

latheboy:- Yes the bolts are M8 high tensile cap heads with nylock nuts.. I hope they hold..

Hillsy:- Yes I gotta get some clear stuff for the brake, but where?

Watto:- The tail is a GSXR750 '04 model. (no it's not an R1 tail) It's off Pesh69's old GSXR 7/11.

hooligan:- Yes I brought it off ebay. The dude had 6 on there at the time with 99cent starting bid. I got this for $120-00 with tank pad and T-shirt thrown in, and the build quality is real good. Cut it in half:D 50mm bore. Better than paying $300-00 to $500-00 just to cut it up. Recommend.[:p]

zx12argh:- With the undertray I can't take all the credit. I used the old one off the Bitsa that Ben made but modified it to fit the new suzuki tail and added some.

appo:- Thanks, the gun metal hammertone paint is so easy to paint. Even a dumb ass like myself done a pretty good job. (no runs cause it's so thick) 2 spray can job...:)

Hillsy

You can get clear hose off Stu at AuSFR. I think he sells the caps and clamps as well (??)

PS: the shit you can buy at your hardware store will either dis-colour (like your front hose??) or sweat brake fluid. Get the proper stuff.
