cheers for the welcome all :)

so far by my count there are 2 x GSXR1100 and 2 x ZX7R as first time fighting material. an older thread has the 85 GSXR750 and 86 GSXR1100 as a common choice of bike.

with money being an issue, no doubt my first attempt will be modest. and as i've always had an affinity for the ninjas i think i'll aim towards a zxr. i'll keep my eye on future issues of rapid for that zx9 jakam04 ;)

a common theme i read about is the use of damaged second hand bikes. i've been to one wrecker who tells me they don't buy damaged bikes for the purpose of resale anymore. so i'll keep on ringing around.

i guess im looking for something with more cosmetic damage but still has the engine in good nick. am i on the right track so far? any other pointers?

in the meantime i'll keep scanning the 51 pages of tech question threads for more info. could take me a little while though [8D]

Hey Cosmo, thats exactly what I did, bought my ninja after she had been dropped, I told the dealer I didn't care about cosmetics as I had BIG plans for buiding a fighter, he guarenteed that she was mechanically sound and had no problems with me returning her to have some mechanical issues fixed for free. Evil Bay sometimes list damaged vehicles and insurance repairable write offs, however it is hard to know what these bikes are like mechanically.
