Hey all :) great forum!

First off, I'm looking at getting my first road bike and just need a few pointers..

Along the lines of cbr250rr, sung gt250r, hornet 250 and similar..

Which would be the best platform to turn into a streetfighter? Which has more a/m parts available?

Cheers and hope to be here for a while :)

I'm not a "fighter" expert as such, but as a bike enthusiast, I reckon you'd be better off keeping either one of those bikes standard and save up for a 600cc+ bike for when you get your open licence and doin the naked fighter thing on that.

A 250 wouldn't pull a skin off a prune and would be a bit of a joke in "fighter" mode, to me. [:o)]

Hiya Roobiks cube,lol, welcome...
I would suggest you stick with the Honda cbr/vtr option, more a/m parts
and options than the sung,as appo said. Im not sure of the range thats available for 250cc thou...
What about ZZR 250??,something less common??..
good luck anyways, and dont 4get the pics

mate if you must get a 250, im guessing no LAMS where you are?, get an aprilia 250.
i know a couple guys and girls that would leave majority of the larger bikes in there wake in the twisties. stick to an inline four is city comute is your thing tho

good luck,

Greetings to you. Im with the minority, I'd leave the 250 as is and wait for something bigger to come along.
No fairings means that your smaller motor is out there on show. RS 's do go hard but why stuff about with it?
Besides that, enjoy and have fun.

Personally I would just ride the 250 whatever and get building summat for when ya pass the tests.
I've never understood throwing money at your learner bike...its a 'temporary' bike.
When I was a wee lad some kids got loans for Rd125LC'S 'cos they were THE must have bike...I spent couple a hundred on a learner, passed and bought a real bike...lc boys were stuck riding/paying of the loan or selling and losing heaps...
I had that smug grin as I blasted them on my XS840 h/tail fighter [^]

Mate,

Id buy a 2nd hand VTR250 and at the same time buy a bigger bike to streetfighter. That way you have your VTR to ride around and you can modd your bigger bike till the cows come home. That way when you get your open licence.. you will have an awesome streetfighter to hop onto.

Ya 250 will hold its value better as well...and there will be a bigger market for a stock 'un than a fightered one.
I know its 'ard but look beyond the next year or so on the 'lil bike.

It looks like this is the way I'll be heading :)
cbr250rr + gsxr600 fighter project sounds like a plan

If your going the GSXR option... Id at least go the 750... Most including myself have an 1100 or 1000, but the 750 can certainly hold its own...

Hi there mate .
I don't now what the go is in WA but here in VIC they are going to make our lerner laws the same as NSW this year I was told, so
maybe check into it and just buy the one bike instead of two. Just something to think about.
