Deluge turns deadly for biker 25

A MAN became the 25th motorcyclist to die on Gold Coast roads this year when he crashed at Palm Beach after torrential rain last night.

Three bikers have now died in just eight days in the region. The fatality capped off a turbulent day on the Gold Coast's roads, including a skateboarder fighting for his life after being struck by a car, as the weather wreaked havoc.

The fatal motorcycle accident happened in the rain about 10.15pm on Townson Avenue.

The man was riding his red Suzuki when it reportedly crashed into a parked Range Rover.

It is believed the man had come through a roundabout on the corner of Townson and Seventh avenues and lost control in the slippery conditions.

The rider ended up underneath the four-wheel-drive, which was parked outside a house. His bike lay 5m away in the centre of the road.

Late last night, police and firefighters were still trying to retrieve the man's body as shocked neighbours stood in the rain surveying the scene, with debris from the bike strewn along the road.

The Queensland-wide motorcyclist toll is 73 -- 29 more than at the same time last year.

The State Government has resisted calls to immediately tackle problems with the Q-Ride motorcycle licensing system, saying it will not act until July.

we lost another 2 riders on the weekend here in SA. one the poor guy had stopped to assist at an accident scene when a tin top rubbernecking run him down. the second was a error in judgement (stupidity) overtaking double white lines blind corner with crest.

Mostly on VHS but will get them put on DVD
when I get around to it. Few others have asked
