Does anyone know approx how hot brake callipers can get?
Want to get them powder-coated but they can only take a certain temp.
Cheers

I agree. Time you've removed seals and pistons, as well as all traces of fluid...then the rebuild as well...just not worth the fuss.

I used engine enamel on my old EF calipers. Put them in the oven to cure them. No problems.
I had them totally stripped though.

This might sound stupid, but do you actually bake it in the oven. If so how hot and how long?

I put mine in on the lowest setting (130 deg C, I think) for about an hour.
Keep in mind this process will emit some nasty fumes [xx(] - so either get an old oven for the shed or stay out of the house for a while......

LMFAO mate ride the bike real fucken hard and when ya get off touch the brakes and see how fucken hot they are if your skin melts and sticks to the caliper and it starts to smell like cooking pork and a muslim starts to get sick and run a mile then i would say they would be pretty fucken hot don't ya think.but thats just an approximate guess though ninjaboy

Yeah, some good answers here, been having a good laugh... but yeah, ride the fuck out of it down some steep hills and USE the front brake, if you get one of them cheap non contact thermometers with a laser pointer in it that you get from Dick Smiff electronics for around $50, it should give you an idea how hot it gets... AND you wont piss off the people in the Synagogue with the burnt pork smell
