gday all, I met a fella at a bike shop who believes that pods dont do thta much for the performance of a bike depending on the bike of course, so a question for all bandit owners, what did it do for your, did you get much more out of the bike.[?]

Pods on a cv carbied bandit 12 combined with a stage three dyno jet kit and hold on tight it's fuggin awesome same goes for oil cooled cv carbied gixxe 11's.
I know co's I have done it

On their own they can be detrimental because they would just lean-out an already super lean set-up.
Combine them, as Alfie said, with a jet kit and a more open exhaust and it becomes a whole new animal.

More fuel + more air + better exhaust = :D:D:D

On a gixxer 1100 the bhp figure I got was 132.5bhp at the wheel with 90ftlb's of torque that was with a laser 4 into 1 as well, dont know about the bandit never dyno'd it

pods can give topend, as mentioned you need to jet right

the main prob with pods is getting the jetting right , esp for the bottom end

if you are a racer and only going to ride the topend then great go for it, but if you want it as a streetbike then its going to be a load of hassle to get right for a small topend increase

One damn good reason for them on some bikes is 'cos the airbox is a pain in the arse to remove.:(

Hey Lads, digging up an old topic.

Has anyone got any more feedback on the pods?

I have just got a 2004 bandit, its got a Staintune pipe but other than that its stock. I am debating whether to go pods and jet kit or a airbox mod and filter and jet kit. I looked at the Holeshot site and apart from the easy carb access the difference in power was bugger all.

I had pods on my Blade but i got that tuned on the dyno. i wanna do it myself this time and am worried about pulling the carbs off and on 80 times and it still running like a pig. It runs bloody great now, bit wheezy up top but it is a bandit and not a gixxer i guess. Midrange is meaty! nice.

I am open to any help or suggestions.

cheers

i havent had anything to do with the holeshot kit but the factorypro jet kits as sharky said is the way to go mate it made my beast a whole different bike

So it runs well with the pods rod??

BANDITROD

i have a couple of little issues like if you were riding in strong wind it would effect the diaphrams in the carbh by making them flutter but it was sorted by ron from balls in melb and then the only other trouble i had was riding in very heavy rain it was ok while moving but as soon as you stop at a set of lights etc etc it would start to run like shit other than that its fucking wicked mate you wont believe the difference

i will probably run the side covers, so rain should be ok(stealth!). I might talk to Jamie from Bikecare first. He did my blade and it ran fuggin great. He told me not to waste money on a jet kit for the blade, he did it himself on the dyno and it cost me 15 bucks in jets. It went a long way to paying for his dyno time not forking out for the jetkit.

Thanks for the feedback mate. Please keep it coming.

I fitted a Dynojet kit and pods to my '03 1200 and I could not be happier. They are already very lean in their stock state so the improvements will be significant.
I have kept the side covers on and have had no problems with wind or rain, however I am long overdue to get it tuned on a dyno as I have just used dead-reckoning up until this point.

BANDITROD

not sure about the late model bandits cos mine is an early model but my side covers used to bolt to the airbox hence why they are not there anymore i couldnt be arsed making anymore fucking brackets by that stage of the build but if you can keep them on that will also stop the fluttering in the carbs mate and it will be bloody awsome

I used to have that problem too. Until I figured out that it was water flicking onto the dyna coils. I waterproofed them, and haven't had a problem since.

Did you guys fit the advancer? I can drill the stocker i suppose, i saw your write up Dan.

BANDITROD

i fitted an advancer but only cos i got it cheap off a member and as far as i am concerned dans method would give exactly the same result so why not do it .......it all helps

talked to jamie yesterday
he is a bit busy, would prob be a 3 week wait to get anything done

by the way, i had the same problem in rain with the katana (also with pods)
had to keep the revs up when i stopped at lights etc or i would have to pull over til things dried out :(

i found taking the pods off, washing them and re-oiling them fixed it
(with a K&N recharge kid)

do it slingy! i did my SV and i had never done that sort of thing before
got it pretty much spot on and only had to take the carbs off and re-adjust stuff twice
took me a day

i got REALLY good info off others who had done it so my base settings were pretty bloody close
then i had a tuning guide document (not sure what happed to it) where you rode around and dianosed what needed adjusting

turned out pretty good when i had it dyno'd

Thats what I liked about the factory pro kit...a full trouble shooting guide....even got a set of graphs that show which part (pilot, needle ,mains etc) is responsible for which part of the running and how effective it is in the tuning process so you don't adjust the wrong thing...very usefull.

I put K and N pods and a stage 3 dynojet kit on my '97 B12. I have a cut down Scorpion exhaust, but jetted it, with the instructions, as a standard exhaust and it has run great, a huge difference. A bit thirsty though!! I just need to get round to the ignition advancer.

WARNING, Pods are no good for your bike!
I bought a packet of the Mars bar flavoured ones & put 'em in my fueltank, the bike ran like a fucking Yamaha after that (no power, coughing & spluttering, wouldn't idle, etc) & I had fat chicks chasing my bike everywhere I went.
They taste good but...
Seeing as how youz blokes have had good results with 'em, I'm gunna try the Snickers ones now, they should give my bike more nuts.

Try the mint ones - it acts like methanol and gives an easy 25% increase in power.

As for oiling airfilters - dunno whats in a K&N recharge kit but i am guessing they aren't cheap.

I have to clean and oil the filter on my dirt bike every ride so I use blue oil. cheap lasts ages and although the outside looks black after some of the rides the inside is always nice purty and clean. good stuff.

k & n recharge kits are only about $25 to $30 bucks and you need them cos the oil comes in a spray can and is alot easier to apply

Spray can?
I must have an old kit cause it just has shitty squeeze bottles.
