Just wanted to say howdy. I am in Brissy and currently have a Yamaha 98 FZX Zeal. I dont really have the funds to get another bike in teh short term, but eventually want to get my hands on a triumph Speed Triple... dreams are free :P

In the meantime, I have been thinking about doing a few streetfighterish things to my current ride - polishing, recovering seat/s, chopping tail, paint parts matt black etc etc.

I am thinking of making the red parts matt black, polishing the chrome and unfinished bits (ie wheels, major engine covers) and leaving the silver painted frame and plastics for now. no doubt I will change my mind as I am doing it though!

Hi all, and thanks for the welcome.
quote:take the Y***** sticker off I am certainly planning on debadging - as an import, it already makes it harder to work out what it actually is.

i would do stuff to the zeal to make it worth more at resale (re-trimming a seat etc)

generally, matt colours are gonna fuck your resale value completely

unless its your dream bike, in which case chat to iceyman about forced induction :D

welcome!

not actually planning on selling... at least not for 5-10 years, in which case the thing is going to be basically worthless anyway - so may as well make it look half decent (to my mind anyway). my wife wants to learn at some stage too, so it would end up being her learner bike when I get another... but you do have a point. at any rate, I have time to think about it, and will see what my wife wants also - I am definately keen to get her riding!

You might be surprised about resale in 5-10 years mate... yeah it'll lose a bit, but look at the cbr250- could be as old as 19 years, and when I was working in a bike shop, we sold em for $5990.

Thatsnot to say that a Zeal is worth the same as a cbr250, but you get the idea

Welcome aboard mate, your paint looks too good for a respray, although i do understand you giving in to the flat dark abyss that swallows your soul and.... Sorry, i'm ok now, gotta go paint something.
