Seems I was meant to introduce myself first.....

Well, thats my first attempt at a fighter above..... the start at least...

34, married, 2 kids, and finally enough money to start mucking around with this stuff again....

Besides the bikes, I race sprints and hillclimbs in my 1971 JKV Formula Vee racer, and used to own one of the larger pocket bike racing supplies businesses in Oz.....

Used to race superbikes in the early 90's, and Sports Sedans around the same time... pre mrs and kids.....

Have 56 acres of 360 degree valley views between Gatton and Toowoomba in Qld....

Mrs does the horse thing, hence the acreage.....

Hopefully thats enough info to go on hey??

Hey mate, if you need inspiration just look at Streets' GPZ600. He had the same idea as you and turned out a real winner with parts from other ASF members:

As mentioned in the email : Welcome to the madness mate.

Actually, the GPx could well end up looking even better, it's got an old skool frame and a better tank shape.

You might be the first one to turn K's ugly duckling into a looker.

PS the 750's will outrun the legendary 900r, and most of them still have reasonable K's on them. Perhaps consider a heart transplant at some stage.

my wheelie bin has more character than these
old shitter's, spend the coin on something
that will go harder!!

19-09-2007, 08:42 AM
Don't you listen to him postie, in the right hands those things go like stink, and can still keep some of the latest equipment honest. And the 750 was blindingly fast in it's day (true 150 mph machine)

A couple of years ago a fairly stock GPz9 (85') ran with the fastest of them on the Fool's run. Just keep an eye on the temp, they generally run a bit cooler with all the tupperware removed though.

If you plan on retaining the original front end then get an anti-dive rebuild kit from GPZ Zone in the UK, Kawasaki only provide replacement complete units (expensive), plus a set of Progressive/Ikon Springs.

and you can get a hyundai to go fast (maybe??)
if you spend enough on it and get the right people
to do it..... but at the of the day its still a korean shit box!
(noticed im not a gpx600 fan yet!)

19-09-2007, 09:08 AM
Hyundai is definitely being very unkind mate, they were never that cheap and nasty. And they were the quickest in their class in their day (admittedly they were the only bike in that class, but regardless........) and they can be picked up for decent prices these days. Could build a very quick, unique machine for reasonable dollars. And it's better than a Duck, or Spuell, or the contemporary CBR/FZR

Agreed, but have you seen the number of V-Twin 650's on the site, this thing would more than give them a run for their money.

Personally, anything less than Litre class is a bit on the girly side, but then I'm an arrogant asshole, so that may color my view a tad.

I agree, 1000 + or nothing, especially when it comes down to performance and show!!..

Its been a long time since I was on a gpx600, but couldnt believe
how gutless they are... maybe I was on a fucked one???
The v-twin comment is a big call though isnt it??? not that im a twin fan either!

19-09-2007, 09:35 AM
You do need to keep the revs up on the 6's to get the best out of them, but I'd put one up against something like an SV650 (especially if Fimp is riding it :D)

In the other thread he quotes 82bhp at the rear wheel, and that definitely puts it in the same grouping as the V-Twin 650's, probably better than most to be honest.

its not often fair to put an SV650 in the same catagory as an i4 600!

but this is an old shitter [:P]

now i just realise that your just an uppity cunt

themadpostie,
keep going with the GPX not a bad bike in there day, a few mods and it'll keep the newer bikes on there toe's.

appo everything you said about the hyundai/GPX could also be said about the 668 you want to fighter, nice bike but it's still got a 30year old motor.

anyway old shiters are a lot more rewarding to play with.

appo
19-09-2007, 11:11 AM
absolutley.... I understand people wont like the 668 and im only using a few bits of it as they are the best bits you can get anywhere.. the engine was the first thing I chucked away.
actually, most of it has been chucked away....

dont know about keeping newer bikes on their toes though??? come on, a few mods!!
take a fair bit for that old girl to keep these days.

have u seen the types that buy new bikes?

its rarely the shiny new looking bikes that overtake me in the hills!!!

i actually dont mind being called a cunt
i kinda enjoy them personally ;)

seriously though, if he tried to sell that the way it is i wouldnt give him more than $300
so he may as well fighter the bejesus outta it and make something unique

true.....

still, I'd rather spend the coin on something bigger!

lets just agree to disagree! these subjects have no
end!!!
it all comes down to what the individual likes

MY GOD!!! I'VE CREATED A MONSTER!!!!

Put into perspective, the OLD GIRL CRAPPER SHITBOX as appo has so gracefully stated.... shites all over a mates Monster, and the SV650? please...... not even close... and thats with the tupperware intact.... Not bad for a 20 year old bike...... they dont make em like they used to....

Antidive system has been rebuilt.... and works a charm.

How about I strap on a turbo, and custom made fuel injection?

See money aint a problem... time is the problem.... you gotta wait for more money!!!

I see it this way.... if the old girl has created that much of a stir.... SHE'S WORTH EVERY MINUTE AND DOLLAR I SPEND ON HER!!!

I love controversy.... especially when I create it.....

Welcome postie, think you should get some wide, high bars and some chunky tires and build yourself a flat tracker out of it. then you can slide her under all of the shiney boys and throw mud at em.
