After purchasing the below 92 GSXR750 recently off ebay with the plan to turn it into a track bike. The motor was blown but i have a spare to slot straight in.

Since then I have decided to use the frame from this bike as the basis for my current 7/11 fighter.

the current 7/11 frame will then be built up with the running gear from the below bike to form my track bike.

this is the frame after stripping and degreasing.

If weight lost equals horse power gained then this is the most powerful bike around[8D]

Hey Deano, Amazing... when I pulled mine apart the other day, there was no kitchen sink!:D
How come you're swapping frames?

Deano

my current road bike frame was in a accident once and am not sure on its straightness therefore i will eventually get it checked and straightned if nesseccary. can afford to be without a track bike for longer than a road bike.

and i am sick of polishing.

And the award for not fucking around goes to ............... Deano !
Mate, you stripped that thing quicker than ........ um ....... quicker than ......... something that got stripped really quick. [:o)]
Now to strip the 'Fighter & do the transmogrification, shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks, It's all just bolt ups eh?
Any Victorian ASF members NOT planning to do trackdays with us this year are SCARED [:p]

What, no starter motor, tail + brake light, or kill switch? are you going to bump start it? Be a pain getting a good tune-up wouldn't it?
I'm just curious Deano[^]......don't know that much about circuit racing, or the regs for that matter.
'Ken fast work on the streetbike mate!

mate i will be running a total loss ingition. will still have a kill swith on the throttle switch block. the alternator has come off and the hole plugged with a cap. I will be leaving the starter on for a bit until i get it up and running and dynoed. then the starter and all the gears that drive the starter and alt will come out.

and yes i will be bump starting at the track.

Hey Deano,

Excluding the very valid reason of "because I can/want to", why go for the bump start option?

I understand that you'll be saving some weight but will it really make that much difference?

I am not trying to be a smartarse, just curious.

Deano

the cut down loom and coils came with the 1100w motor i brought a while ago.

I have the loom and it makes it a shit load easier to find any potential porblems with only 6 wires.

as for removing the starter it probly wont make that much difference but there are about 3 stages of gears that are run off the clutch gear. if the motor dosn't have to spin these gears over then it all counts.

I could leave the starter in, and the gears and use an external car battery to power the starter directly if i get sick of it.

but its not that hard to bump start the thing. just annoying if anything.

just ask Turbokat as he had to bump his thing about 30 times when we went drag racing.

and also - because i can.

Mate I see you have put an R1 seat/tail on to the suzuki. Is this much f#cking around?

Depends on your definition of fucking around. Using the original subframe cuts down the work, but it's still no bolt on attachment. We created a whole new subframe for mine - Now that's fucking around!

Christ you work fast Deano.

forget about bump starting...a coupla car batteries and a starter motor hooked up to your mother's rubber coated rolling pin, mount the lot in an old lawn mower chassis...and voila...a motogp style roller starter. [8D]

Maybe that could be the second product in "Deano's Store"

Matt, I'm currently making a subframe to fit a 99 R1 race ductail to my 91 GS500E Suzuki, now that's alot of fuk'n around!

Even using modified R1 seat. Should look trick when it's all done, so it's worth all the hassels.

ozkat
06-07-2006, 07:55 PM
why dont you adapt a R1 subframe to suit your frame that way everything behind the frame fits properly, battery box, etc

Iceman
06-07-2006, 08:02 PM
That was the original plan, but thought I might be able to do a one off job instead. If it doesn't work out the way I want I'll go that way for sure.

06-07-2006, 08:11 PM
Im using my standard/modified subframe to mount my R1 tail and seat.Thort about goin the rose joint(rod end bearing)option, but decided it will look more compliant with the original welded frame setup. Its proving a much easier option so far and all is lining up well, post up some pics soon.

Who dares question Deano about why??? He didnt become the "multi award winning" fighter builder coz he's got a groovy hair cut.

Yes the 99 - 00 models are, but there are ways around that.

nearly finished now.

cut down loom was fitted with a relay and then she was kick over and burst into life. seems to run great.

only thing left to do is get a chain fit fairings wire in veyor loom and thrash the shit out of it.

also fired up the fighter for the first time since reassembly yestreday. just need a RWC and then re reg it.

the track bike is now so close to finished that i can taste it.

big thanks to chubs for the fairings.

took it for a spin on sunday. goes well. should be enough to get me into trouble.

just got to grind rear disc and fit new pads. install a new veypor loom to save taking the loom on and off the road bike. fit sticky tyres. balance carbies. swap the long clutch cable with chubs std length unit and then thrash the shit out of it.

I see what you mean about the clutch cable. Damn!
Hey what bike did you get the drilled front discs from? I wouldn't mind doing that, mine are slotted and don't look too good.

Deano
25-07-2006, 01:23 PM
the complete front end except wheel is off a 94 mod 750. they changed from 4 piston to 6 piston calipers aswell on that model

Deano
25-07-2006, 01:24 PM
clutch cable is way to long for clipons. even the throttle cables hit against the back of the headlight badly when turning the bars left

chubs
25-07-2006, 02:42 PM
Ah. '94 model - that explains it. And you've got extended throttle cables too - Sounds like more stuff we need to swap - this is coming in really handy!
