Got me some Unobtanium - Yoshimura full access clutch cover

It's pretty wicked.

I fitted some Hyperplates and saved 500g out of the clutch.

Also got a mini ISR rear caliper mounted behind the swingarm which looks a little bit wierd.

Works good and saved a whole Kg (Simon)

Just thought you guys would enjoy the pics....

your bike is trick as stocky. and so clean! whats the story, do you ride it, just for show, race bike???

Stocky

Yeh I ride it heaps

It spends periouds of time in bits but it's got about 26,000 K's on it so it's averaging 7,000 Ks a year since I bought it.

It's certainly not clean enough to be a show bike. (nor bling enough LOL)

It's a sickness that I have .... more power less weight.

Stock was 152 HP (at the back tyre) and 204Kg Wet (measured)

Mods so far have got it to 188HP (at the back tyre) and 182Kg Wet (measured)

I don't see any more practical power but I recon I can loose another 6-8Kg yet.

Then the rider can loose another 6 as well LOL

;)

excellent.

how did you lose the first 12kg? lots of titanium? and have you got CF or fibreglass fairings? is there much weight to be lost in that department? and what about some sweet magnesium or CF wheels? thats be a good few kilos?

i dont know how you could have sat there and typed all that out, you truly are sick...;)
seriously though pt is right why not focus on the big heavy things, like wheels and fairings.. on the other hand, if your racing every bit of weight off helps...

Stocky is on a mission when it comes to weight. We had a long conversation about it when we had the 1770 ride. Hence I keep asking him if he weighed it whenever he gets something new. ...and of course he did. Mind you, when I had my head on the tank at over $2.40+ and he was getting further and further away, he shut me up good and proper....

LOL

I didn't really type it all out as such.

I've kept track of the mods over the 4 years or so that I've had the bike.

Most mods are done one at a time and I just make a note of it as I go , so I just copied and pasted the weights from the spreadsheet.

I also have pretty much every bolt replaced with Ti or Al bolts. I had a friend who got them for me so they didn't cost the fortune they are worth.

The fairing and wheels are coming.

They are something I want very specific so they've been a while.

I have a CF solo tail unit ordered.

I have Ben making me a custom CF tank cover (dummy) and I'm making a custom alloy tank that sits lower in the bike, makes the air box bigger and saves some weight.

Then I'll concentrate on a CF faring for it. (sorry I'm keeping the faring LOL)

The "side project" is BST CF wheels and CMC Brake rotors.

This part is going to be stupid money but it'll loose a heap of weight.

I recon I can get another 8Kg out of it yet.

One more thing.....

If you look at only the things that are more than 1Kg they only account for 5.5Kg.

All the little bits add up to another 10Kg so the sickness pays off in the long run.

Most of the little bits are massively time consuming and lack bang for buck but they all ad up in the end.

Hey Stocky - is that a heat shield on your sump? If so, what for??

Stocky
23-08-2007, 07:00 PM
The heat sheild is attached to the exhuast where it runs close to the sump.

It's an aluminium/ceramic sandwich type stuff you can get from Repco.

It just keeps the exhuast heat out of the oil.

Saw it on a British Superbike and had some laying around so I chucked it on.

I actually have an oil temp reading on my dash. It's hard to say for sure how much effect it had but it does run a tiny bit lower oil temp now.
