Just checked July, yeah Damo, you are right, Spannerman does write very condescendingly (I think that's a word). I threw out June so I can't comment but I am guessing more of the same.

The whole mag is a fuck up. The shit I had to go through to get the 'Blade advertised in there was unbelievable - and after forking out for a 1/2 page with an agreement to have the bike on the front cover what do I find when I pick the mag up @ the newsagent the other day? No front cover and the ad shoved on about page 90!
They weren't even going to run my ad because of the bit about being featured in RAPID and STREETFIGHTERS mags. Apparently they view these as their competition!!
Hahahahahaha! What a fucking joke!

So now you know Damo...the little cog on the countershaft is called a 'front sprocket' and the one attached to the rear wheel is called....the 'rear sprocket'........
what a patronising c**t that bloke is.:(

damo1
24-07-2007, 05:25 PM
Its funny Stu i didnt notice your bike in there until the second time flicking through and im always looking for fighters.[:0]
love the ad by the way;)

Yes hes a tool makes you out to be some sort of twit.

You know what the funny thing is the guy with the sprokets said he wanted to go 1 tooth bigger up front to lower the revs to try conserve more fuel and the fucker spanner said that he would be better off 1 tooth smaller saying that with more revs it will be less throttle openings meaning less fuel.

When i wrote in i told him i disagreed with this because id done the same mod to my blade and the fuel tank drains quicker.

My exact words were for you FIMP "if you have more revs you need more fuel if you have more fuel it drains the tank quicker if it drains the tank quicker it means more stops at the bouser more stops at the bouser means more fuel."

So as you can see the letter is absolutly nothing like what i wrote.:(

Spannerman is a fuckin tool damo no doubt I disagree with most of his views...the trader is best flicked through and then used to start a fire.
The spanner is only half right/wrong, both situations are possible...a lightly loaded engine will provide better economy...but tall gearing can be beneficial on long runs.
Alls a dependa ontha machina :)

I gather this is part of the article of some advice???
Anyway, If I went to the bike shop and asked for a COUNTERSHAFT, I would be getting the shaft that the clutch sits on, the front sprocket sits on the DRIVE shaft, well, thats what its called in the parts manual for my machine, I can't see it being any different for any other machine.. even the Laverda I used to have...

It does sound a bit patronising though...

Was reading M/C trader and tha man said it was uncommon for gixxas to jump out of 2nd gear or at least he had never heard of it. I can only assume he dont buy ones that have spent their life on 1 wheel ?.

back on the subject about spannerman...

the latest mag has him advising a bloke to top up the clutch fluid on his TL1000S cos its slipping

not sure how successful he will be at doing that!

damo1
17-09-2007, 06:28 PM
well it will probly work cause he knows his shit:D

17-09-2007, 07:54 PM
Come on girls, it's obvious ain't it, if it's slipping, add more oil, that'll improve friction won't it [:D}

17-09-2007, 08:26 PM
Christ, is this spannerman for real?????? sounds like a real tosser... lets see now, obviously the mechanics of a hydraulic clutch have changed now, compared to my Laverda RGS I had 20 years ago, it's obvious that the clutch fluid works in a different way, like the fluid actually forces the plates together to prevent slipping, WOW, MODERN technology.... way back 20 years ago, if you had no fluid, you could not disengage the clutch, same as a broken clutch cable!!!

fimpBIKES
17-09-2007, 10:41 PM
