Gel Cell batteries

Any of you guys running a gel cell battery? I'm using a Deka equivalent of Yuasa 14A/H, and just wondering whether they alter the charge rate, as it doesn't seem to hang in as well as the lead acid.
My charging system is probably due for repairs of some kind, as voltage does not climb much above 12.8-13volts at any time, and I'm running a larger fuel pump, which is not helping.....but before I tear it down[again:(]I'd like to hear from others regarding the battery itself.

I would guess that is the problem straight away...Its not getting enough.[:0]
I had a gel battery on an fj12 years back and it was fine.

Ive got a gel Deka battery in mine. Works fine. started the bike no worries this morning, it was -2 deg at home!!

Thanks guys, it's as I suspected, time to repair/upgrade the charge system

I put a odessy battery in the z 7 years ago and its still in there going fine. Off road for over a year after an accident and it didn't need a charge. I have even used it to jump start the car with out the bike running if it ever dies ill be getting another one.
