hi guys :D

how are we all?
im new to the motorbike scene side of things.. but have been involved with car clubs and what not for a number of years.
including fords and car audio (SQ comp)
but yeah.... the time has come to move to bikes as they are much nicer for fuel economy, mechanical friendliness and performance.

i suppose i should say that im yet to get my bike license, but will be doing so late this year / early next year as im currently suspended from driving cars and as such cant get my bike license yet.

my plans are to purchase a wrecked CBR250RR or similar and build it up as a street fighter, then in say 5-6 years ish id like to move onto something bigger. but yeah... i want to stick to something small for a while to get familiar with bikes before i jump onto something to gutsy.

Yea, welcome aboard mate. You'll soon get bored of a 250. An soon wonder why you spent all that money on one thing that fills your garage when now you can have loads of toys.

saiken, welcome, get the cheapest 250, live with it for the minimum time, and jump straight onto a nice 600cc (mid capacity) and learn ya craft on that.. 250's are useless

cheers.joe.

Agreed.

Well, 250's are pretty useless as fighters, that's for sure.

Unless your a 5 foot nothing 50kg ex jockey... the power to weight on a 250 is a shocker... minimum time as joe stated and then get at least a 600. Im a heavy bastard who prefers >1000cc.

Welcome to the site and good luck with the upcoming purchase.

lol, ill consider what you guys are saying.... and as for the 5 foot nothing 50kg ex jockey... im no ex jockey but im only 5 foot 7 and weigh in at around 55-60kg =D... so yeah.. im a little person.
but yeah ill play it to ear and see how things go. i really wanted to get a wrecked 250 in the next month or so and build it up, whilst im waiting to get my lisence (January next year). anyone got suggestion (im in melb *north eastern suburbs*) and a rough idea on prices. my mate who rides bikes said i should get one easy for 2 grand as a wreck.

trading post is your friend. are you looking for anything in particular.. $2000 is heaps to get a wrecked 250 and have money for some repairs if you shop well..

Good luck.

you can get some un-tidy zzr250 kawasaki's for $2000 that are already registered, and NOT write offs, check the trading post for em, they will have plastic's broken, but that wont matter, just make sure the mechanicals are in good order.

if your willing to spend 2k... get one thats been lightly damaged and the owner just wants to sell/upgrade instead of repair.

the zzr250, and the suzuki bandit250 is prolly the only streetfighter looking options besides the race rep cbr or zx2r (my pick of the 250's)

cheers.joe.

only difference i could notice riding either a cbr250rr or a zx2r was the colour

Just get the 250, get ya licence and then get the 600 and 'fighter it.
Can't imagine there's a big market for 'fightered 250's so resale might be tough.??
