I couldn't have built my bike without an angle grinder, a drill, a socket set and a good hacksaw.

well it seems im pretty much set then... cause we have angle grinders and mash/demo hammers and carpenters hammers and claw hammers... probabley a full *good* socket set, an impact socket set .... will do.
the only idea i didnt like was the VB =| not a beer drinker... but i have a fridge full of coke =D! and it doubles as being a great cleaner =P.
the bike lift is nice... but it might have to wait for 18 months when i make the decision to keep my car or not.

And this lot will be of great use and a mortgage to buy it all but then it's something you build up over the years like I have.

In Sydney the cheapest place to buy a decent one is Hare & Forbes at North Parramatta. They are about $300. I got mine 2 years ago from there for $275 and it works well.

Mate I brought mine with me from the uk recently with all my other stuff and it is all still in customs waiting clearence but back to your question you can get them from here http://www.oneup.com.au/default.aspx?page=Home but they are a fair bit more expensive :( than the table type but Having used both types I wouldn't go back to a table type lift anymore the choice is yours

I've got two of them in case one breaks down.

Hey Alfie, what do you use for mounting points on them without taking the headers off? I could use the frame rails but then it would be weighted too far forward. Can't work out where you fixed it?

It uses the side stand to hold on to the bike and with the brackets supplied you can bolt down the frame on any bike that has a cradle style frame you may need to use some ally spacers or wood for clearence as every bike is different. I have also made some adapters for mine for use with frames that use the engine as a stressed member. Its a lovely bit of kit as you can strip a bike completely down to the frame whilst having it jacked up and no back ache, cant imagine doing major work on a bike without my lift and if I am just doing light service work I use the wheel cradles and side stand clamp to lift the bike.

I have had harleys and goldwings and v maxes on my stand no problems and lifted them all with a standard electric drill.

All I can say is if ya can afford one get it
