Next problem:

Since i removed the 1985 gsxr 'F' 15mm spindle and want to replace it with a 17mm 'H' one to suit my 1987 forks - I need to make up a spacer for the front bearings. I have bought the 17mm bearings to suit a 42mm outer diameter (not standard - should normally be 47mm) - but what can i use to make a spacer out of?
I checked steel suppliers and most pipe (galv, black etc.) comes in 20 or 25 mm diameters as the smallest.

Anyone got any hints or suggestions?
Does the steel material matter, e.g. mild steel?

Cheers

Maybe try the wreckers to find a 17 MM spacer (hopefully longer than you need) and then cut it down. I think you'll want hardened steel like most wheel bearing spacers (because you need to bolt them together pretty tight).

Remember - measure thrice, cut once....

any steel will do. i made some with ally pipe. the k4 front end i put in my bike had an ally spacer as standard

the spacer will be the same length as your last one as the bearings will be wider but they wont sit in any further.

just see if you can get something from the wreckers
