While I'm back I've managed to have timed it well enough to catch a traditional event from my home town which I haven't seen for many years, the ancient art of cheese rolling. The rules are simple - take a round 10" diametre cheese, roll it down a hill as steep as a cliff and run after it as fast as you can. The winner is handsomely rewarded with the cheese and maybe a neck brace - second prize is a tenner. Big stakes here, I can see why you'd want to do it. Bloody mental cases. No wonder I'm deranged.
