Looking at a wiseco 1314cc big bore kit for an FJ12 lump on evilbay.
Good ? Bad ? Why ?

Slow trafiic work might piss you off, but gunning it will make you smile. These bad boys were really made for pushing out big power at the drag strip, not the most user friendly transformation, but hey, everyone likes a bit of madness. Choice is yours. Personally, I wouldn't if you are going to use the bike as a daily runner, but if it's being used as a toy then it would make a little more sense. My points are all based on guys that have owned big block conversions and what they have told me, including Supercharger Mark who tried Shaynes 1340 (or whatever it was) when he fixed it up.

Yes, No, Because they make more power.
Make sure you factor in the cost of resleeving if it doesn't come with a big block & also case boring. [:0]
Are the rods & crank up to the extra capacity?
All told, a N2O kit is a better option methinks. [:p]
2c thanks. ;)

Thats what I was finkin......I may end up in a job where I can use the bike as a daily and I don't want to screw up the low down grunt of the 12 engine.
I know the 1340's are pigs..mate in UK had a big block kwak....What tickover ????
Its one of those bargains sent to tempt ya...$400 start price and no bids for the full kit (liners, pistons etc).

It will be OK if you keep the compression ratio in check. I've got a drag bike mate who has a big bore GSX engined road bike and he's had a plate cut out of 2mm alloy the same as his base gasket. Standard valves and it's got mega low / midrange.

See where I'm going here??

Out of interest How much (ball park figure) is it to get barrels and crankcases bored out for new liners ? ?.....Not that I'm tempted of course [}:)]

Just a thought would the barrels and head of a XJR 1300 be a bolt on fit to your motor. Availability could be a problem, you see a bit of FJ stuff reasonably cheap at the wreckers, I haven't seen much 1300 stuff though.

Probably would fit mate but as I cannot ask 'technical' questions on the xjr uk owners site without being a paid up member I'll have to nosey around a bit. I don't know about the power of the 13's, but my 11 motor (and the fj12 lump) has more bhp than the xjr12.
I have decided to leave it, tempting as it is.
I'll save me cash for an FJ12 lump first. With the flatslides and adjustable cam sprockets it should be quite a grunty motor.
