Ive got 2 weeks to go till the GSXR is finished and on the road. Im looking for an insurance company that will insure my bike even though its modified. Is there such a company? Ive heard that some companies allow you to insure bikes as a non-daily rider as in ride it on occasions as a clubtype bike..

Any advice would be appreciated (constructive advice preferred):D

I am with QBE and they just asked for a list of mods and that was it.

The best thing is that I can ride it every day. Try that with Shannons.

how about insuremyride? They're advertising everywhere atm and seem to have pretty good prices. You get to elect how often you ride, im not sure what they cover as far as mods though.

aftermarket pipe and airfilter only, they did say that they could accept a shit load more, They where the only company that was interested due to the size of engine and that it was an everydayer. I guess they thought I was bullshitting them when I told them only those things, they know about bikes and what can be done to what.

"Thank you for answering the quote questions.

Due to the following reason/s we are unable to produce an on-line quote:

Arista mybike

The Accessories Value is greater than 20 percent of the Sum Insured.
Cover is Unavailable for this Motorcycle, as it is used for daily commuting."

bummer :(

a) not for agreed value
b) it seems that they also dont allow mods to be worth more than 20% of market value (their wesite automatically generates an amount) which kinda sucks cos that wouldnt even cover a full exhaust system...
c) at least i CAN insure gear which good (can imagine myself rolling down the road with $500 helmet, leather suit, A* gloves and boots etc)
d) the price seems pretty bloody exxy, there is an option to increase my premium but it doesnt offer more then 200 off for an increase in premiems for a factor of THREE!!! u do the math.... cos i am pretty sure i will claim within 3 years

anyways, where else can i check
i know shannons wont touch me cos i
(and i quote the fuckwit on the phone last time i talked to them)
"perhaps you are not an enthusiast", just cos i want to ride my bike more than 2 days a week

Hey Greg, Shayne had his shed done over and he claimed. That was Shannons I think and he had no problems whatsoever.

Oh, and Fimp, try ringing the guys rather than the online form as that thing will have the least amount of flexibility. I find the trick is to upload your bike to the site, ring the insurance mob, get a bike specialist and the both of you can check the photos online and he will tell you what he can do. I got turned down on web based forms many times, then I rang Shannons and did what I just said and he looked at the bike with me and HE TOLD ME what I had done! HE was on the ball and gave me a good quote. Try it with the mob that does every day rides. By the way $2k is fucking mad on a bike that's that old mate! How old are you?

Dont forget your under 30yrs of age FIMP so the premium should be lower that the one quoted.

Do the same on line quote again but make up a date of birth that puts yopu over 30 and youll probly get a cheaper quote.;)

How come on one quote you got 5000$ worth of mods then on the second you only got 2000$ worth of mods, are trying to be a sneeky little fuckwer and rort the system there FIMP[:0];).

From memory Shannons do a you a deside the value and then work the premium out off that.

So if you recon that your bike is worth 20000 grand then they just work it out that way.

Good luck ill be following this one with great interest.[^]

I am with Swann with a premium of just over $300
I dont appear to get any hassles with them

shannons is out of the question, i want to ride more than 2 days a week

i only put 2 grand on the insuremyride one cos thats the max that they told me i could put (which is fuck-all considering replacement cost of a custom exhaust)
but i figure for 12 000 i could pretty much bring the TLR up to spec again unless it catches on fire during a lay-over [:O]

where was this guy u went and saw gix? shannons WERE meant to organise an assessor for mine, but dont want to know about em now anyways

Whats to say that you didnt have the accident on one of those 2 days a week that you are insured for , how can they police what day you are using your bike?

here is the same question backwards

how EASY would it be if they wanted to prove i used my bike to commute JUST ONCE?

my bikes kinda loud, all they would have to do is ask a neighbour
and im not paying almost 2 grand a year to risk the chance of getting fucked over

Do shannons do new for old insurance? When I had my accident and claimed against AAMI (they weren't my insurer just liable) they would only pay an adjusted amount for my gear based on the age. I ended up loosing about 400 bucks from my jacket and gloves the pricks.

Fimp when I called shannons they told me they would put me through to insuremyride, stateing they where a sister company.

Re-read my post mate. I had him on the phone while he looked at photos of different angles of the bike on the internet where it was posted.
