18 hours work & half a garbag of swarf [:0]
I'm going to polish the clamps tomorrow & my knob tonight. ;)
Top is 6061 T6, bottom is 7075 T7something.
I've still gotta machine pockets in the undersides to save some weight but that can wait 'til after the Fools Run.

Should prevent too many wheelies,
They are going into a gsxr 1340 engined EFE.
Well they will if i ever get my arse into gear, and finish building it!

Sounds nice, big fan of the EFE's, had one just a couple of years ago. Don't forget to post pic's :D

Fuck me Daz, you're a dark horse mate! Where did you aquire those "Skills" and a milling machine? They're spot on mate.

Hey Baldrick, welcome aboard mate. Those are some serious yokes there mate. I'd like to see them on the bike as soon as you get them on.

Always had the basic machining skills Gix but to be fair, these were a lot more complex than anything I'd made before, so I needed some extra "guidance" on them, the mill belongs to a mate who is a retired toolmaker, he held my hand the whole way through the process - top bloke.
I want a milling machine now, I feel like I could accomplish anything with a mill - maybe even take over the world [}:)]

What did you base the design on mate? I like it a lot.

Thanx mate, I liked the look of the MV Augusta clamps so I modelled them around that basic design & just made the rest up as I went. :)
Is it wrong that I can't stop touching them ? [8D]

As long as they're not coated in man glaze at Dubboo :D

Hey can I use a lathe as a mill...or do I need a proper milling machine?

Top job Darren, they look great.

Baldrick, they are massive.

Large, I don't think you can uce a lathe as a mill. Generally and lathe spins the material and the tools are fixed. A mill spins the tool and the material is fixed. You could however use a router. lol.

DAZZ that looks fwarking great well done ... and make sure you leave all the sharp edges so when people touch it they loose a finger bahahaha ...
Sorry to shot you down ICE but you can use a lathe as a mill .. you gotta get a add on vise thats goes on the carrage instead of the tool post and put the cutter in the chuck ..

That's what I was thinking...And I'm sure Pa has exactly that on his lathe...

The hardest part is trying to think of a way to sell the swarf on Ebay :D

The first hurdle is just having a go...I am not a machinists ar$ehole but with a bit of practise manage to knock a few parts out.
It takes a while on small machines but at the end of the day it is time over money.
