Here you go lads. A new one from Darren. Here's his write up:
"96 Blade. paint, engine rebuild, custom brackets, top yolk conversion, adjustable subframe for tail hieght, buell headlight. all home workshop build."
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/74481079243370.jpg
...but by new I was referring to the fact that he made the effort to do a little video montage of the build as well. This I like:

Hey guys, the new tail is from an 04 600RR. had to make the subframe from scratch, it's fully adjustable to whatever height you want.

Darren - Spot on mate! I couldn't think of anything looking better on the back of that. That is a very cool choice.
Considered a new front guard and black disc carriers? Is that a 17" wheel conversion on the front already? Can't tell on the stand.
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/436403558129061.jpg
Still has the 16" on the front, i like the 130 front tyre look, looking at some guard options, maybe a cut down version of that one to show more tyre. yes black carriers would be cool.
very nice,i love the tail end.......

Very nice M8 , they are the bike of choice [:p] BTW Needed that arse end for sure , are you still running the factory clocks ? Any picks of the right handside?
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/436405137230288.jpg
Yeah mate, used factory clocks. Just cut the idiot lights off and mounted them behind the bars so i could keep original ignition barrel position and steering lock.
Here's the right hand side, not as exiting as the left, might cut that can down to about half that, but it's loud already as is.

Why dont you fit the earlier model Blade front guard, or maybe one from a Triumph
Yeah, might get the older blade guard, not sure about the stubby pipe now after reading the 954's probs with the hot dog muffler.
definately still want the single sider though from the VFR
Yes i have seen the Venom's can, totally awsome, check me out officer.

If you want Darren I could help you out with the standard guard and fixings , You made a complete sub frame didn't you ? Just curious cause I used a factory sub and have made up new mounting brackets not as neat but it looks complete

Yeah i built my subframe, just cause i wanted it adjustable and also wanted to keep the original one intact for whatever reason. Thanks for the offer to help on the guard, I like Damo's front guard, is that Triumph???

Ahh yeah I reckon that one would be loud. I'm wearin ear bungs as it is with mine at it's length.
I hear people say Re-map this and reprogram that, so what do the carb'd guys do when they have a shorty can, is re-jetting a must or is it a case of if it runs smooth just leave it be???

I have stage two and a k/n air filter in mine
but i need to get it setup correctly.

Sorry guys, I missed most of this.
I was busy working on the multi award winning, turbo GS.
Tested all the angles rigorously, number two was the winner, the others were just too harsh on the jewels. ( although the colder the day the more comfortable it is ) go figure;)
Tried to go riding today, but found i had a low battery this morn. after some rooting around under the tail i found that my Reg/Rectifier had a major meltdown. question? do these have to be grounded against the frame by the metal base as well as the neg side of the DC out? only thing i can think of is that the part of the subbie it's bolted to is painted now, so no grounding:(:(
HueyonaBlade
26-08-2007, 08:27 PM
Well with my limited experience every ones first Q. is ,Has the voltage reg been replaced ,so its obviously a common problem , the only reason I think that people bolt them to the frame is for heat transfer as they get pretty warm , I think that if you look through the early part of Bens Venom thread he talks about the Voltage regs there;)
Yeah thanks Dave, I agree it is prob more of a dissapation thing, i didn't have the whole of the metal base contacting the subframe and the section that was touching is where it melted inside ( had to pull it to bits ) as this is a no fin design all the heat must go through the base.
cheers. more money for Mr Honda.:(

and no more problems.

Yeah thanks MC, i think with the new tail i forgot to provide a suitable heat sink for the temp to escape. the area it was bolted to was too small (and painted) you could see where the hot spot had melted it inside.
I picked up a new one and also got a big heat sink from the computer shop to bolt it too and now it's sweet.[8D]
Any more on your paint work or you savin that for winter.

That would be griffs bike,it was painted but the guy
that painted it fucked it up so it gone back to him and
it should be ready by now just to collect it.
my own blade in going to have a the new tail {k6 thou}
fitted as soon as i get the seat in the post and then i'm
going to strip it down for powder coating.
will post pics of both bikes when some more work is done.
