sharky
28-06-2006, 06:59 PM
'Fraid not mate. It's a 96 1200 with my FJ11 engine fitted. I picked it up as a rolling chassis minus engine from ebay.
I am chasing a 1200 motor at the moment..

Thats one way to put it Gix....Re; the brackets, yep they worked fine but I will make new arms as the light needs to move forwards a tad so the speedo cable will fit.

The anodised blue bits ...are blue paint...

sharky
17-09-2006, 09:43 AM
Thanks fellas,
Yeah see...even a Yam can look good with a bit of grinding and welding. :D
The spray system was a $99 GMC compressor and their $50 spray gun/airline package. Acrylic black and laquer with a drop of blue pearl. The 'anodising' is K+H 'anodised blue'engine enamel.
As the colours work I'll get the bits done properley come next winter.

Nice one sharky. That looks trick mate. Love the Z650 Ducktail as well. Nice work on modding the seat to get it all to match up so well. All you need is an ASF sticker somewhere discrete in blue.

Thanks Gix.
As you can see I have now fitted the ZRX fairing unit I got from Sluglie......Means I can't use the gsxr clock bracket you sold me so its up for sale ($50.00). And the headlight brackets are available too (free).

I have now discovered I have to get a VIV certificate (as it was a write off) something a certain Vic frame straightener failed to mention to me. $440.00 !!!!!!! for someone to say "Yep, thats fixed".
Plus roadworthy, inspection for rego + rego, permit to ride to VIV...They even want stamp duty on the market value when I owned half the fuckin thing already and had already paid duty once....
Talk about bending over and taking one [:0]

Iceman

VIV is more of a 'No it's not stolen, yes you can keep it' thing.

nice rebuild mate looks like youv'e had hours of fun with this one if you do get ya self an XJR 12 or 13 lump in it the fj1100 inlet rubbers use them instead of the 12 or 13's as there better yam 36y's unleash the beast in the xjr and theres a mod on the air box you can do too that makes it breath better also you have to move it back on a stock 13 sp motor by 2 inches to get the larger inlet rubbers in looks individual and cool mate thats what fightering is all about big pat on the back mate nice job

Gix11
28-09-2006, 12:24 PM
THat's exactly what I meant Sharky. Cheers mate. Now send me a fuck off sized high res photo of it from a few angles so I can consider it for the ASF calendar.

sharky
29-09-2006, 09:09 PM

Final pics now. Pegs have been rearset by using adapter plate bolted to original exhaust hangar and peg mounts. Supertrapp fitted, just needs a bracket.Engine bars 'cos I can't afford to drop it. On these lumps you either put the brake pedal through the cluth or trash the pickups on the left side...either way you ain't riding home.
Now for the calendar shots.....
