G'day all, fantastic site, some awesome bikes!!!

Advice? Washed out my '98 vfr, smashed all the pretty (expensive) plastic bits up front & a handlebar. Thinking about street fightering it, just cheaply at first to get it back on the road. It wasn't insured & as far as I know it's still legally road registered. If I get it done in time it should only need a pink slip shouldn't it? (I'm in NSW).

Wreckers will only give $1500 for it, can't get much of a bike to replace it for $1500, or assuming $1500 gets it back on the road, still can't get much for $3k.

Before it gets said, we've already bought a suzuki to replace it :-)
A bike each for the missus & I is the dream & budget doesn't extend to two suzuki's... (can't go wrong with honda's either, but they're no cheaper)

G'day Kurt welcome aboard don't see many vfr's fightered so would be intresting to see how it turns out, usually we see the sinle sided swing arms out of them in other bikes ;)

keep us posted with the progress of the build and hope you enjoy your stay

The hardest part is trying to hide the Rads on the VFR, They hang off the side of the bike and are hard to make look good, Good luck with the project, Should be something different.. :)

A old panel beater that i knew ( did his apprentiship in the hot rod days ) once gave me a bit of advice with customising cars/bikes/anything realy and that was if you cant remove it, if you cant hide it, make a feature of it. It seems to work well if you follow a few other guide lines, I can't wait to see what you come up with

cheers all,
I found a couple of VTR's fightered when looking around, rad's just had a bit of a chrome mesh/grill cover put over them, ended up looking good.

I saw pics of a fighter recently the had dirt bike rad shouds on it and it looked the shit !!
I'd be looking into that for an option with the radiators.
I'll see if I can find it.

**EDIT** check this.Probably not suitable though for side mount rads [V]

Side rads can be cool.

You could change it to the front.

Or even go under the seat at the back.

It's all about how much trouble and expense you want to go with

G'day Krut

I have streetfightered (is that even a word?) my VFR.
(photo in welcome section if you want a look)

Mine's a 94, without side radiators though, so I can't help you there
