Buying a bike in Oz

Since I'm new in Australia, Just a couple of questions as you guys would know.

If I'm buying a bike, what does it have to have to be road legal:
Rego
RWC...

If bike is currently garaged, what would i need to do to get it on the road and what are the expenses??

If bike is a write off, what would I need to do and wat expenses to get it back on the road (besides the obvious, fixing the bike)???

I think Vic has similar rules to NSW ???

Needs a full roadworthy and Safety certificate to get it registered again( same as QLD ) but i am not too sure on the repairable write off rules in Vic

In Vic and Qld you only need to have the roadworthy when you register it...either sold with a valid one or bought cheap without...same as UK mot really.
As long as you keep up the rego you don't ever need to roadworthy it again...for as long as you own it.
As far as the written off vehicles..It has to be classed as a damaged repairable to go back on the road. You need to get it roadworthied and VIV inspected by a certified inspector type person ..basically they want to see it has been repaired properly and you need receipts for all the parts you bought to do so...and charge you $440 for the priviledge...
