Was a 2000 yammy TRX850. Now its mostly 2000 R1..

This is a copy/paste from another TRX specific forum i hang on.. Thought you ppl might wanna see it.. Not really a fighter as such.. but either way.

These are the new mirrors ive settled on.. You will see another pic the mirror part is actually "fisheye" or domed.. its chromed plastic.. visibility is (imo) LESS than a stock trx item.. BUT i get lots more side view.. Its just that everything looks out of preportion.. Guess it will take some getting used to.. But i look over my shoulder a fair bit anyway.. for when i change lanes, etc...
They have built-in LED's that connect to the indicator wires.

In that pic also note than in the top corner of each headlight there is another bulb.. This is also an indicator (10mm orange, high intens.. like 10,000 mcd or somethin) which isnt normal for australia market.. But because i couldnt find the housing in australia, well, CHEAPLY ie: non yamaha outlet, i got it on ebay for less than half price delivered !.. cos it was an american model, it had those extra holes.. and i thought.. why not !

Also, try to find my front fairing indicators in that pic... bet you will struggle :)

http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/TR1X-fairing-mounts.jpg

Moving back a bit.. You can see how i made some new fairing mounts. Those tubes are 316 stainless, 16mm OD and 12mm ID.. I pressed a M6 nut into the tube, and put a small tac-weld (TIG weld) on it so it sits flush and all pretty.. come to think of it.. should have taken a pic.. ill update later. anyhoo.. stainless will weld to other steels, like cro-moly, mild steel, etc.. long as it has some nickle in it, it should be fine.. if not, non-ferrous.. or somethin like that.. cant remember the rules.. either way.. you get the idea. both sides are done now.
Cleaned it up with a grinder lightly and re-sprayed it with zinc spray that was same colour as normal frame.. lucky me... *cough* work sponsored *cough*

Adjustable dogbones.. also note the R1 shock and its eyelet style.. This is why i had to mod my banana knuckle further.. I should have it back in a day or 2.. ill take pics with it in once ive set it up correctly.

http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/TR1X-rear2.jpg

How it looks from the rear.. note the lack of indicators,, err.. and licence plate at this stage.. oops.. better look into a way of mounting that.

Im trying to get work to sponsor me some perspex for covering under the cowl and above the wheel.. to like.. cover it all up.. see how i go if i can find roughly the right size material.

http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/TR1X-sideview.jpg

Here is where i got up to.. It got too dark, as you will note in the pics.. You can see the front fairing indicator in this pic.. They are a LED flush mount item.. Also note the rearview mirrors if you can make them out from the grainyness.. my camera hates night / dusk.. :(

Hopefully the rear will come down a fair bit when its under its own weight.. its too high.. looks like its got a perky ass tho :)

Where the exhaust will mount to the pillion foot pegs i will be making my own new brackets.. As i dont have a pillion seat.. The frame will support the weight if i choose to put one on at a later stage.

I still need to finish the adjustable rear-sets i started making.. Ive been WAY busy with work.. my job can be a bit demanding sometimes and i dont have time to do stuff for myself.. such is life really.. But im expecting a huge week this week.. AND ive been given an apprentice for 3 months to train up.. guess what his first job will be :) he is a 3rd year and very good on the machines.. and you only have to tell him once.. he is VERY "switched on" so i trust him with my projects.. he is also keen to get into it and give it a try..

Well.. this is where it all ends currently.. I still have a list of things to do as long as my arm.. but most are just niggly things.. Shouldnt be much longer.. I prolly WONT get it by this weekend.. Because i want to put on my own rearsets.. Altho i can put on the factory ones if needed.. but thems the breaks..

bit of an amendment.. Ive done all the work myself. i made a prototype swingarm but decided on the 2000 R1.. here is what they look like side by side
http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/R1_Tail_Conversion/Revision/2-comparison.jpg

It is 72mm longer..

In its previous finished state.. it looked like this.

http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/TR1X-2.jpg

Was WAY long.. thus, i did this

http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/R1_Tail_Conversion/Revision/7-complete.jpg

Ive also tapered the top part that connects to the pivot axle tube.. but have not got a pic online currently.

Also the custom dash with digital speedo ive made
http://www.users.on.net/~auska/bike/TR1X-dash3.jpg

Im still working on the rearsets currently.. but its almost done. more work has been done since these pics. The big hole adjustment plate was more or less a prototype to see how much movement i actually wanted.. they move WAY too much.. (and i got an apprentice to drill and tap each hole.. he hated me for it. ;)

obviously there is some other changes, such as the forks, wave disks (which i also made 100% myself) and some brackets here and there.

I like how small the TRX is..I would fighter one over a VFR any day..

you know their is a six speed box that drops straight in - then it really goes well.

yer.. the 6spd box is called a TDM900.. And it doesnt drop straight it far as i know.. as there is some extra webbing in there which screws things up. saying that, ive never personally tried it.. BUT i do have a spare 5spd here, and i know where to measure up a TDM if i so wish.. i just got plenty on my plate currently.

And there is plenty of fighter'd TRX.. the 955 trumpy swingarm (the single sided job) bolts straight in. fair few ppl do it.
