Im looking at upgrading from the 600 at the moment, and the bike im wanting is a Z1000. I found an 03 model that looks in good condition and i'm going to test ride it in the next couple of days. The only issue i have with it is that its done approx 70,000km. Has anyone had a Z1000 thats done this many km? or a similar kwaka engine? How reliable is it? I'm working off the assumption that the owner has stayed with the workshop services as per the manual, and if not then thats another bargaining chip. Hopefully i can get this for a good price, but i dont want a shitter thats going to clap out in the next 20,000km!

If its the one from Team Moto Bowen Hills dont touch it - I have it from a VERY reliable source the bike is an ex-courier jobbie and is its second time around the odometer -

but saying that its still going and the owner bought a new Z1000 so there has to be some appeal to the bikes. I used to lust after them but the twin exhausts are hella gay on the previous model and even worse on the current.

I am no Kwakka expert, but I think the Zfousand is a ZX9 engine, they are good ol bullet proof mills. So a good condition high Km Z shouldn't be a problem (unless its an ond couriers bike...)

The old model is definitely a zx9 bottom end - different head. Not sure about the new one - its supposed to be an entirely new beastie - tho it would make sense if they use the same block in the new one.

On a similar note, has anyone got much experience with an 06 FZ1N? I found a good example, had a ride and enjoyed it. Could be a good trade from the tupperware laden CBR600RR im on now. And its pretty damn quick too
