I am coming over to Australia to live early next year but i now have a decision to make.

1. Do I come over in March 07 the latest or

2. Do I stay on and work through the English summer in 2007 as a contractor for the company i am working for at the moment instead of being staff.
By doing this it will give me and extra au$10k to bring with me but it does mean i wont be able to come to Australia until September 07

What would you do? :)

We Aussies usually pay you Pommies to stay in England :D
But you sound like a top bloke, so my advise is
simple screw the 10k be over here on the 7th of
March get over your jet lag and be at Eastern Creek
Raceway on the 9th to the 11th of March for the
Barry Sheene Memorial Race Meet where you can cheer
Me and Rexie on.:D:D:D
Or give yourself that extra pocket money so if you do
get in a rutt over here in Oz atleast you have some
cash to fall back on.[:0]
Personally I would pick the first option cause if
you do get in a bind you could always sleep in
our Hyde Park under a nice cozy newspaper.;)
and ask for handouts and say your an ex lepper.[:p]

Yeah what Devo said.

I've slept out in London and Sydney and I'll tell you Sydney (and Adelaide) is much more comfortable to be a bum in:D

So Large did you find the Sydney Morning Herald a lot warmer
than the Daily Telegraph.[?]
I reckon the best thing to sleep under is a Harvey Norman
catalogue cause they have heaters in them for Winter and air
conditioners in em for Summer :D.

Alfie, I'd say come over for the Fools Run, but I'd also say that £10,000 is worth AU$24,657 (as of todays conversion). That equates to a fuck off turbo'd streetfighter and some beer money to sit and look at it with. Fiding a job can be daunting in Aus if you are new, but I'm sure there's someone here who can help you out.

One thing I always stand by though is "DO IT TODAY" as you might not be here tomorrow...and remember, winter here doesn't hurt that much mate.

Now I've just confused the shit out of you.

Alfie...

can you actually save that 10K or will a % go on living expences?

Me... get the hell out of there and come and live a real life!

10 grand australian would be nice to have ey, but far out get out of england as soon as you can! it might actually be easier for you to aclimatise to the winter weather here than appearing just as it starts to get warm again. and by winter i mean, a few degrees cooler, but still better than an english summer[:p]

Even though i'd be tempted to say get out of that Bum-hole of a country at the first chance, to be honest, I hung around and worked on my house long enough to get my extra 10k/UK to.

It meant a Busa/pipes/insurance/and extra's ;)

Cant fuggin wait it's only 4 months away and i'll be leavin on a jet plane and I ain't fuckin coming back to the uk again.

Update
A bloke that lives in the same road as me heard i was selling my house and is looking for a bigger place to buy and move into about March next year which just happens to be when i plan to move to Aus.
Oh yeah and at the full asking price how fucking cool is that and no fuckin sly eastate agent fees either as i'm not using one.
Both of our solicitors are now in contact and the whole slow process has started.

An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world. So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to Orlando,
thinking that he would start by working his way across the USA from South to North.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read "$10,000 per call".

The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for.
The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for
$10,000 you could talk to Heaven.

The American thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw
the same golden telephone with the same sign under it.
He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was.
She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to Heaven.
"O.K., thank you," said the American.

He then travelled to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia,

Boston and New York.

In every church he saw the same golden telephone
with the same "$10,000 per call" sign under it.

The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel to
AUSTRALIA to see if Australians had the same phone.

He arrived in Australia, and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read "40 cents per call."

The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign.

"Father, I've travelled all over America and I've seen this same
golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line
to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call.

Why is it so cheap here?"

The priest smiled and answered,

You're in Australia now, son - it's a local call".
