Hi All, I'm a newbie here and am organising a ride for this Sunday. Details are below...I need to know by Thursday night who is 100% on coming as I need to tell the head chef how many people to cater for.
On Sunday 29th October, I'm going on a ride to the docklands for a tour and lunch aboard the RV Farley Mowat -a ship owned and run by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
Sea Shepherd are a voluntary organisation working to protect whales & dolphins under threat of extinction. Sea Shepherd crew sail the Oceans, protecting animals where they can - from stopping the horrific Canadian seal hunt to the massacre of whales & dolphins. The ship, which is currently berthed at the Docklands is leaving in early December & is bound for the icy Antarctic waters.
There, they will fight the Japanese whalers who have increased their whale slaughter quota once again this year. They will kill anything from protected & endangered whales, to pregnant mothers & babies.
They are also breaking numerous International laws by doing this, not to mention invading Australia's Antarctic territory and the International Whale Sanctuary.
No international or local organisation is stopping them from breaking these laws! That is why Sea Shepherd must do this.
For the ride, I'll be arriving at Bunnings Vermont South at 10am, to leave at 10:30am sharp. If anyone wishes to join me on this, we can't have more than 50 people, so please let me know if you're coming and I'll put your name down on the list.
The Sea Shepherd crew will be giving tours of the ship and providing lunch for those who donate $20. After the tour and lunch we'll head down to the Beach Club cafe/restaruant for coffee's and those who wish to hit the road can join - this will be discussed at the time.
Please join me on this ride-it should be a great day.
