heres a page to show you how my bike is been built :p
it all started when i bought this a gsx600f
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/A1.jpg
then after it was nicked smashed up and repaired
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/A2.jpg
the srad arse was fitted
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/A3.jpg
and then i had finished it
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/one4kr.jpg

well actually ....... no, too ugly too heavy unreliable and so the journey begun:-
me and the kids wheeled it into the kitchen/workshop and stripped her down
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/theborrowers.jpg
at the time i was in emergency accomadation so werent too fussed about destroying the house
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/oc25_001.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/oc25_004.jpg
the bike had previously chewed up the clutch on accounts it had the wrong oil in it and damaged the plates causing this one to take a trip around the engine before settling in the oil pan
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/IMAG0002.jpg
and so every part of this engine was stripped checked over and the broken parts replaced.

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/bits.jpg
searching ebay for parts i had always been inspired by the gsxr and decided the best one without a doubt in my mind was the slabsider, the first real race rep the first sportsbike on the road to use an alloy frame, the bike that started a revelation and so i bought the 1985 frame and started frantically bolting it together
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/gix.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/gix3.jpg
thats when the fun started, i primered the tank and began the REAL work on this bike
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/nowheels.jpg
that big fat SRAD rear end was trimmed down to be thinner
sanded down and primered
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/sideprime1.jpg
before long i had a rolling chasis
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/newside.jpg
and then slapped some paint on her
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/fe06001.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/fe06003.jpg

as mentioned above, i was living in emergency accomadation and just before christmas we moved, unfortunately i dropped the bike during the move scratching the paintwork and so off everything came to start yet again
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Picture.jpg
i started modifying the subframe also as the unit didnt sit correctly
and bolted on the SRAD subframe
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/nusub.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/paintgone.jpg
a better paint scheme was applied
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/nupaint.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/bakon.jpg
the engine received a treatment to all its new goodies and was sorted ready for fiing up
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/enginelooksgood.jpg
and the bike was finally making a bit of progress
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/fffff.jpg
at wich point the engine was re-introduced to the frame
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/whoaw1.jpg
only to find upon turning her over the cams had a problem so a little more work on the engine ...... again
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image004-2.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image000.jpg
and finally i ended up with something like this
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/01.jpg
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/02.jpg
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/03.jpg
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/04.jpg

i made it a mini hugger and stubbied an old remus oval carbon fiber can down
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/sweet.jpg

at this point i decided the renthal handlebars didnt suit my riding position and were swapped for the clip-ons
http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/17.jpg

http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/bigbiker_2007/Image015.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image004-3.jpg

knocked up a rear light out ov a few bits found scavaging

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image000-1.jpg

flatsides replaced the CV carbs

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image005-1.jpg

view from the cockpit

back on ebay and i found this 86 fairing and screen
as decided i dont see too many fully faired now'a days

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/fared1.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/fared3.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/fared2.jpg

and had a play about with colors
http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/76613/fared1.jpg (http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/76613/fared1.jpg)

http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/76636/fared1.jpg (http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/76636/fared1.jpg)

before finally getting to a look i was happy with
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/doneside.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/donefront.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/donerear.jpg

my plan is to use the origional front lights and replace one of them with a huge RAM air inlet delivering cold air to the carbs loke this
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/ramair.jpg
but then i removed the belly pan after a crack emerged after it fell over and i think you ave to agree it looks more sweeter off than on!!
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image004-5.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image001.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image005-2.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image000-2.jpg

and so thats basically where im at with it now, along journey, lots of work but i think well worth it!

Hahahaha pulled it down in the kitchen, hahahahaha
what a top fuckin household !

IMO, the slabbie fairing is just going backwards, you've made so much effort to make it look good and then after all that work, everyone will just think it's an old slabbie with a tail and a paint job.

What about a K series GSXR fairing set up?
Check this out.

mate - anyway who has a family and pulls a bike down in a kitchen has got some mungo balls... Well done.
re: that slabbie/k front end - it would like better if the fairline better matched the subframe lines... It just looks bolted on not quite right... but otherwise I love the idea.

started making the air scoop today too

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Photo-0085.jpg

will sort of give you an idea here..... just a mock up will all be flush and will be silver as yellow quite clearly doesnt work  , its just to give you an idea!

then as i was messin with electrics earlier shes havin trouble firing up so i proped the tank up and thought how cool it would be to hinge it like that so it poped up like that off a button...... with a led light in the top of the tank too???? just an idea???

ok then so.....

friend of mine had a ducati 916 tail piece and no use for it so

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image009.jpg

put it on for looks and then

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image009-1.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Image010.jpg

sprayed her up to match..... youll notice a little work on the front too, but well get on to that soon!
so as you can see i dont really think this suits this bike as much as the old unit, in my opinion it is too skinny and looks odd without the twin exhausts underneath as on the origional bike, and i have neither the patience or money to convert to an underseat exhaustsystem and besides which, the pipes to go under the seat look odd as theres no single sided arm for them to tuck in so you have to go out over and under and in my opinion it doesnt look correct! so off that came again ( i do have a use for it on another project)
im also looking for a single seat unit from a gsxr-r or a slingshot to modify as it wil match the lines better

and so .......
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Photo-0096.jpg
front light now in place
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Photo-0095.jpg
this is the scoop and front light idea dunno wether i like it as much or if i will blank the whole scoop out too so i just have the off center light and maybe mount the scoop somewhere else
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Photo-0064.jpg
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Photo-0068-1.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n308/bigbike-r/Photo-0067.jpg

thats all for now folks :)

fuck what a progression :D wicked stuff.
i like the ducati tail on it that looks cool,
i think if you are gunna keep with the srad one, you'll need a fatter rear tyre to off set it a bit.
:D
keep up the good work mate

bigbike-r
13-06-2007, 06:29 PM
waaay ahead of you on that one, friend of mine has a set off a zxr now that is a fat boy rear its got USD front end too, and its already to go straight onto a slabby so ill be picking that up as soon a s funds will allow, the ducati tail is too skinny without the double exhausts but im starting to build a bandit as i got given a frame free so im gonna use it on that, i dont want the srad on if i can get my hands on a slingshot single seat unit or a gsxr-r unit both similar but they will keep the lines neater

i like the intake thingy,
it definitely looks better with the headlight off

perhaps u could fit a projector beam headlight in a similar sort of housing and it would look a bit more balanced?

Hillsy
13-06-2007, 09:07 PM
I like the Duc tail - it just needs to be lifted up so the pillion pad area lines up with the top of the tank. But yeah - what a transformation this bike has had. Top stuff!

Lovin the 3/4 fairing with the cyclopes look and air scoop, the ducati seat unit and subframe looks way better too ;)

cheers but the intake thingy is gone now i just spent the last hour blanking it out! im thinking of having it mounted somewhere else to the side moulded in the fairing perhaps....... as for the ducati tail..... thats gonna be used on my bandit project and im getting a gsxr-r tail for this one, thanx for the excellent feeedback makes it all worth while
